ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
With the deepest gratitude and appreciation. I humbly give thanks to the
people who helped me in making my On-the-Job training a possible one.
First and foremost, I would like to thank Our Almighty God for guiding me.
To my parents and siblings, for their unending love and support, for
providing my needs financially and morally, for their patience and understanding during my
tiring days that I can’t help them in the chores, for their never fading advice and for being
there for me no matter what.
To the Tourism office of Sablayan for their warm welcome to me. From head
and all staffs under Tourism Office such as Culture and Arts Department, I am very grateful
for having them as part of my On-the-Job training. For all their advices and for everything
that they taught me during my stay with them and most of all, for the memories we’ve shared
- the happy moments, the sorrowful ones, the rush hours, the brainstorming and nerve-
wracking days and for everything that they did that contributed to my growth as an Intern
student. I thank them so much.
To my friends and co-interns, for the happiness and for being there to support
me and to comfort me whenever I have difficulties during my training. I thank them for the
friendship and teamwork and for being my companions whom I can share my laughter and
sorrows with.

I dreamed of become a tourism or a flight attendant, but because of financial difficulties to
enrol in a prestigious university outside the province, I took the program which resemble to it
and this is BA History. I didn’t notice that after a long path I take, here I am to the last steps
to build my future and dreams. After I finish my degree, I will take uniting for teaching

Importance of Practicum
On-the-job Training is part of a college curriculum that aims to train and orient
students about the work and their future career. It is a type of skill development where a
worker learns how to do the work through hands-on experience. On the Job Training is one
method by which students are exposed with different work situation designed to give
students an opportunity to experience and a chance to apply the theories and computation that
they have learned from the School. It also helps the students to acquire relevant knowledge
and skills by performing in actual work setting.
OJT is very important not only to teach students regarding their chosen career but
also to show students the reality about working. The students will be exposed to the actual
work related to the course that they are taking. It also allows those with no experience to
work and to learn at the same time. On-the-Job Training helps the trainee to learn more about
his chosen field and practice what they learned from the school. It helps in the building up of
the trainee’s competence. Of course, when a student is competent enough, he will be able to
do things successfully and. This training develops one’s professionalism in dealing with
people. After the training, the trainee will be able to handle situations properly and he’ll be
able to know how to socialize well with his colleagues. He will also be able to work well
with everyone and he’ll have a good teamwork. OJT also enhances the critical thinking
abilities and discipline of the student conducting training in a company/agency. The ability to
make sound decisions and evaluate pertinent factors will be improved.

The history of Sablayan reflects the rich Arts and Culture of the town. But in the past
decades, the colorful, historical accounts and authentic culture of Sablayenio have gradually
disappeared, mainly the three (3) tribes of the indigenous Mangyan (Tau-Buid Tribe,
Alangan Tribe, and Batangan Tribe) who settled in the greater land of Sablayan. Due to the
dominance of modern and creative interpretation of culture recognition, the true essence and
preservation of Culture vanished.
The Impulse of the Arts and culture in town will help local people in showing and
sharing diverse talents in various fields such as the Performing Arts in music, film, poetry,
prose, dance, theater, and more. Visual Arts in drawing, painting, sculpture, sculpture,
photography, and Literature or pen. Art is part of literature, and literature is part of the rich
culture of our personality, understanding, and practices.
The Preservation of culture, from different languages, dishes tasted in town, religious
and social practices inherited, art and music, indigenous cultures of appreciation to Nature,
Punishment of outlaws, Healing of the Sick, Planting, Massage, Matrimony, Birthday or
Childbirth and Culture in delivering respect to the dead person. These are the contributions of
local government to society for the next generation.

1. Setting
The setting was good because I feel more comfortable than I expected and the people was
very accommodating and approachable.
The setting was limited by the employee which connected to the field they were assigned
particularly in the Culture and Arts Section.
My initial analysis of the agency or organization was they were very wide in terms of
handling tourism besides Culture and Arts. I would rather prefer if tourism as well as Culture
and Arts are in different department.
2. Site Supervisor
The greatest contribution made by the site supervisor is that she’s letting OJTs to finish the
work that resulted of being responsible especially in management of time and finish the
designated work on time.
The general level of supervision was the Supervisor provides individual works indicating what
is to be done and what is the limitations, additional, specific instructions are given for new.
I needed more from the supervisor in the way of learning and adopting her special skill
specially in management of work that makes the tourism of Sablayan alive.
The one event/characteristic that really influenced my internship was they were lack of
employees that is related to the field of work which I consider that being Historian is a strength.
A tend/issue which really impacted this organization was the employees specialization which
workers assigned in the agency wasn’t related to the course graduated.
4. Self-Assessment
The most important thing I learned is the experience on how to interact and communicate
with people, understanding workplace culture, develops leadership and skills cultivation through
training experience.

we’ve perform.
I still need more experience in the area of doing a research most specially the cultural and
historical research because we all know that making a cultural research is very sensitive one.
If I were to repeat this experience I would extend the day of training to make my internship
more productive and fruitful.
5. General
The internship experience can be strengthened in the near future as future professional,
internship experience is a must because we are practicing what we have learned 4 years in
college.
Future interns should apply all their knowledge and experience in training. They should not be
afraid to make mistakes, instead used it as an inspiration to grow and develop as future
professional.
Note: This analysis need not to be shared with the site supervisor.
