LEARNING OUTLINE
LESSON
PRE-
1. Remind pupils of the post-lesson activity you did in the last lesson (‘Numbers about me’).
2. Have pupils do this activity in groups, using information about themselves.
3. Activity 1:
a. Introduce vocabulary to describe personality (e.g. brave, shy, outgoing) which could describe people in
different jobs.
b. Organise pupils into groups.
c. Tell pupils they are going to play the Pelmanism game where they match adjectives and jobs.
d. Distribute a set of word/picture cards to each group.
e. Pupils put the cards face-down.
f. In turns, pupils turn over two cards to see if they make a pair.
g. CCE: Values – Understanding that certain jobs require different personalities or qualities.
4. Activity 2:
a. Read out the model text and elicit ideas for finishing it. (Act 3 PB page 50)
LESSON DEVELOPMENT
b. Pupils work first individually on their writing, basing it on their notes from the homework interview
task (of course, they will have to change the title from ‘My English teacher’ to e.g. ‘My father’).
c. They should add in a sentence at the end which describes the personality of the person they
interviewed.
d. If some pupils have not done the homework, they can write about you, as in the instructions in the
Teacher’s Book.
5. Activity 3:
a. Pupils check their work against the checklist and make a note of mistakes or any improvements they
could make.
b. Pupils discuss their ideas with a partner.
c. Have pupils make changes to their writing (second draft) in a different colour.
d. In groups, pupils volunteer to read their work to each other.
6. Activity 4:
a. Working with words: Pupils look at the picture. (Pupil’s Book page 55)
b. Ask: What she’s doing?
c. Read the information in the blue box.
d. Pupils complete the information in the blue box.
e. Check answers as a class.
