Reading is the process of taking in the sense or meaning of letters, symbols, etc.,
especially by sight or touch.
In reading, pauses must also be considered so that the emotion and the energy that the
author is trying to convey can be delivered in a nice way.
Example:
One Monday morning in October, photos of floating fishes in the sea were
flashed on the front pages of all the newspapers. There was fish poisoning in Manila
Bay! The water in the bay was found polluted with cyanide, a poisonous chemical.
Traces of the poisonous chemical were detected in the internal organs of fish, experts
from the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources or BFAR said.

Directions: Read the passage. Take a short pause on those having a slash (/) and a
stop on those having two slashes (//).
