    A Semi-Detailed Lesson Plan

    In Teaching English 6

    I. Objectives:
    1. Read grade level text with accuracy, appropriate rate, and proper expression
    2. Oral Reading Fluency Practice
    3. Employ an appropriate style of speaking, adjusting language, gestures, rate, and
    volume according to audience and purpose

    II. Subject Matter


    Topic: Oral Reading Fluency Practice
    References: Joy in Learning English 6 Textbook and Teacher’s Manual
    Materials: Power point Presentation

    III. Procedure

    A. Review

    The Teacher asks questions about the previous topic.


    1. What is the title of the story that we have read last meeting?
    2. Who was the narrator of that story?
    3. What was the secret of the Bog Creek Farm?

    B. Lesson Proper

    a. Motivation

    The Teacher will ask the pupils:


    Do you know what is inside the box?

    What about this one?

    Where do you often see this symbols?


    b. Presentation

    The Teacher presents the lesson “Oral Reading Fluency Practice”

    c. Discussion

    Reading is the process of taking in the sense or meaning of letters, symbols, etc.,
    especially by sight or touch.

    In reading, pauses must also be considered so that the emotion and the energy that the
    author is trying to convey can be delivered in a nice way.

    Period and Comma


    - These two symbols or punctuation marks are used as a sign to take a pause when
    reading

    Example:
    One Monday morning in October, photos of floating fishes in the sea were
    flashed on the front pages of all the newspapers. There was fish poisoning in Manila
    Bay! The water in the bay was found polluted with cyanide, a poisonous chemical.
    Traces of the poisonous chemical were detected in the internal organs of fish, experts
    from the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources or BFAR said.

    d. Generalization

    Periods and Commas are used to take a short pause when reading

    e. Fixing Skills

    Directions: Read the passage. Take a short pause on those having a slash (/) and a
    stop on those having two slashes (//).

    Directions: Read the following sentences carefully and identify where to pause or stop by
    putting one slash (/) for commas and two slashes (//) for periods, exclamation point or
    question mark.
    1. These chemicals at alarming level have hazardous effects which may result in fish
    mortality BFAR added
    2. The loss is estimated at one ton
    3. Are you ready with your newspaper drive crew
    4. What is your favorite pepsi or coke
