PRODUCTION SWIVEL UNIT Q-M6102

Q-M6102 is a toroidal type swivel with its inner fixed part mounted on a cylindrical support
ring. This is flange bolted to a conical cylindrical support weld integrated into the manifold
swivel deck.
From the production manifold a 12inch flow liner separates into two 8inch lines that are
flange connected to the swivels fixed part internal stub pipes. Also passing up through the
central bore of the swivel fixed part are the 12inch oil import pipe, a 4inch gas lift / export
line and a 1inch vent and relief line from the pig receiver to the production / gas swivel Q-
M6101.
The swivel consists of an outer rotating part and an inner fixed part maintained concentric
by means of a three-race roller bearing. Between the fixed and rotating parts a toroidal
annulus is formed that allows fluids to be transferred from the fixed production manifold to
the rotating vessel piping
The inner fixed part is connected to the production flow line via manifold piping, whereas
the outer rotating part is fixed to the deck of the vessel through the driving system, and can
rotate with respect to the inner part.

ELECTRIC SWIVEL UNIT Q-M8901

Mounted above the production swivel is an electrical swivel support consisting of a 4.8m
long 12inch pipe, flanged at both ends that forms part of the piping for crude oil flow. To
this is welded a circular 15mm plate having top and bottom plates (flanges). The support
bottom plate is bolted to the fixed part of production swivel Q-M6102 whilst the top plate is
bolted to the electric swivel fixed part. Four reinforcing web plates are located between the
top and bottom plates.

COMBINED PRODUCT SWIVEL/GAS SWIVEL UNIT Q-M6101

Above the electric swivel is a combined product and gas pipe swivel Q-M6101 that also
incorporates a vent and relief line from the pig receiver V-M6101. This swivel is supported
by a 12inch pipe flange mounted to the pipe swivels inner fixed pipe.
The 12inch pipe passes down through the bore of the electric and 12inch product swivels to
connect by bolted flanges to the product manifold. Spool pieces have been installed to the
top and bottom of the 12inch pipe allowing the installation winch wire rope to pass through
the swivel stack.
The product swivel bearing is provided with oil lubrication from a small reservoir mounted
on the swivels rotating part, whilst the product / gas swivel is oil bath lubricated. The
electric swivel bearing is grease lubricated and a bearing bush at the interface between the
seal housing ring and external shell is self-lubricating.
A swivel driving system is provided to assist in the turning motion of swivel rotating parts.
The frictional torque generated between swivel fixed and rotating parts is transferred to the
gantry structure by a series of driving arms fitted with spherical bearings.
