The University works with the mission of strengthening the ‘Sonar Bangla
‘according to the great ideals of our liberation Wartime to achieve the nation’s
economic emancipation and its cultural enrichment. With this mission the
University runs its academic programs to establish a poverty-free country through
creating skilled human resources by importing job oriented, creative and cultural
education. The skilled human resources created by this University are working in
different sectors of the country both at home and abroad with reputation and
efficiency.
The First Industrial Revolution started in the 18th century with the steam engine
and the mechanization. The Second Industrial Revolution in the 19th century
brought the electricity, oil and the mass production. The Third Industrial
Revolution, or the Digital Revolution started on 1980s and brought digital
computers and communications. The fourth Industrial Revolution is bringing
together digital, Physical and biological systems impacting everything from the
human body to the whole society. When talking about the human wellbeing, in
my world music has to be included. So what role is music supposed to play in the
new digital society? There is a strong push in the music technology world to have
computers and robots produce music. If you have listened to any attempts of
machines writing music, I guess you will agree with me, that it was mostly boring
if not outright annoying. Sure computers are getting better, faster, and more
powerful. So their programmers become more ambitious what machine music
generation abilities concern.

Vision of the Program:
The vision of the Music Department is to achieve excellence in education
professionals in music. We aspire after preparing to be an Academic Artist in
Music. The listeners will enjoy a high level of accomplishment and a commitment
of the professionals to the highest ideal of the music. Music provides a dynamic
learning environment that stimulate the high standards of research, innovation
and leadership in music composition, teaching, performance, technology,
education and advocacy.
M1. The essence of the Program Bachelor of Music (Honors) in Nazrul Sangeet
, Rabindra Sangeet and Classical is designed to give the students a diverse and
broad –based knowledge in the subject.
M2. Notable among the practical values of Music are social value, entertainment
value, therapeutic value, functioning –enhancement value, and self-affirmation
value. The relation between the practical and the musical values a piece of music
can presses is somewhat complicated and varies from case to case.
M3. Musical training helps develop language and reasoning. Students who have
early musical training will develop the areas of the brain related to language and
reasoning. The left side of the brain is better developed with music, and songs
can help imprint information on young minds.

PEO5. Serve the University System of Shanto-Mariam University of Creative
Technology and the nation as an internationally recognized center for music
department research in contemporary art-music through creative work in music
technology, composition and performance.
PEO 6. Promote and support student research and collaborations, often
conducted jointly with faculty through publications and performances.
PEO 7. Provide opportunities and guidance to prepare our students for a
professional life in music through mentorship, internships, entrepreneurial
experience, and training as educators.

Program outcomes:
PO1 (Performance). Students will perform on a primary voice from a broad
historical and stylistic range of solo and ensemble repertoire with technique
accuracy expressivity, stage presence, and creativity.
PO2 (Aural and Visual Analyses). Students will identify musical elements and
organizational patterns through Aural and Visual Analyses.
PO3 (Music History). Students will demonstrate the application of knowledge
related to the history of music, including various time periods, historical figures,
styles and genres in Eastern (Indian Music) and western musical traditions.
PO4 (Literature, Methods and Teaching). Students will demonstrate an
understanding of literature, methodology of music and others program. Students
will demonstrate proficiency in teaching skills including classroom management,
rehearsal techniques creating assessments for instruction to various ages and skill
levels, and the ability to diagnose and correct musical and technical faults.
PO5 (Conducting). Students will demonstrate clarity and expressivity in
conducting gesture (With and without baton) proficiency in score reading, and
communicating musical ideas to an ensemble.
PO6 (Music Technology). Students will demonstrate the application of
knowledge and abilities related to music technology including digital audio
workstation and music software.
PO7 (Performance Pedagogy). Students will demonstrate knowledge and skills
related to music pedagogy as it relates to private lesson instruction, including

various pedagogy methods, applicable literature, and the ability to diagnose and
correct musical and technical faults.
PO8 (Studio Production). Students will demonstrate the application of
knowledge and skills related to studio arranging and producing including fluency
with technology including digital audio workstation, editing, effects, and mixing
techniques.
PO9. (Contemporary Theory and Improvisation). Students will create
coherent and artistic improvised melodies demonstrating of jazz chord symbols
and their function within major and minor keys, modal chord progressions, and
the blues.
PO10 (Entrepreneurship). Students will demonstrate an understanding of career
options related to their area of specialization (Nazrul Sangeet, Rabindra Sangeet
and Classical).

Job Sector: As a result, after successful completion of this program students will
be professionally competent to choose their career. Job sector is BCS (Education),
Govt. and Non Govt. School, College, University, Bangladesh Beater and
Television with other private television channels, Bangladesh Shishu and
Shilpakala Academy and other.
