Where it all started.
Sir Robert Baden-Powell
❏ Known as B-P

❏ Born in Paddington, London on February 22, 1857

❏ Young Army Officer- specialized in map making , scouting and reconnaissance.

❏ In 1907, he held an experimental camp at Brownsea Island where 22 boys joined.

❏ In 1909, at the Crystal Palace rally of Boy Scouts in England, a group of girls came
out and voiced their appeal to B-P to have a similar movement for girls.

❏ Requested by B-P to help him


start a movement for girls. ❏ Come quietly to the movement when
met B-P and married him in 1912
❏ The movement s first called as
“Girl Guides” ❏ B-P and Lady Olave (born in 1889)

Girl Guides in May 1910 February 22 is celebrated
by Girl Guides and Girl
Scouts as World Thinking

gathering.
❏ March 12, 1912 -First troop meeting of Girl

In the 20th Century, the
scouting movements found
a way here in the
Philippines.

member of WAGGGS
in the 12th World
Conference in
Cooperstown, New
York.
❏ In 1965, we celebrate the Silver ❏ March 17, 1976 - The new GSP
Jubilee of the GSP. Constitution and By-Laws were
ratified and confirmed.

❏ June 2, 1975 - The Presidential ❏ April 20, 2009 - Pres. Arroyo


Decree 720 was signed, authorizing signed into law Republic Act
and restricting the GSP No. 1000731, known as “The
Girl Scouts of the Philippines
Charter of 2009”
