A. In time of loss sickness

Everything has its time and happens for a reason, as the saying goes. There is only one thing I
can do to free myself from the grief and sorrow brought on by a loss, especially a permanent
loss like the recent passing of my beloved grandma, and that is to accept that death is a natural
part of life. I continue to have faith and hope in God's healing and my ability to move on from
this loss because of this wisdom, which includes the notion that death ushers one into a New
Life with our Creator. Because I believe that our physical body needs rest as well, I saw this
experience as a caution to take care of myself during times of illness.

B. In time of uncertainties, especially during the pandemic

Because of all the unknowns in life, there are risks involved. In difficult times, particularly during
a pandemic, I may simply follow the directions provided by the authorities to keep myself safe
and live a life filled of trust, knowledge, thankfulness, and optimism. I learned many things from
this pandemic, including the need of living simply, of maintaining my health because I only had
one life, and of cherishing the people in my life because it is only temporary. Life is full of
uncertainties, including the unknown future posed by any pandemic, which motivates me to act
wisely today because tomorrow might not arrive. I use prayer as a tool to make decisions that
will provide me opportunities to be successful when things are uncertain.

C. In moments of blessings and abundance

My parents have always told me that we pray more frequently during prosperous times than
during difficult ones. They always advise saying "Thank you" for what we ask for in order to
receive the answers to our prayers, and I am confident that I have incorporated their advice into
my daily life. Every time I experience a blessing, no matter how small or significant, I make it a
point to thank God in a quiet voice. Always be grateful for what we have and spread the word
about our benefits. Don't just make blessings appear; with God's assistance, we can also work
with it.

D. In situations where lack of access to opportunities happens due to prejudice and biases
The adage "everyone has their own opinion" is true, but if those opinions become biases and
prejudices, they actually act as a barrier to growth. Because of my appearance and sloppy
handwriting, I faced a lot of prejudice when I was in elementary school. It is really sad and
depressing, but I've learned to ignore it. They think I'm weak and all overweight because they
judged me on how well I could toss a ball. To confront the preconceptions and biases held by
others, it takes a lot of strength and resolve, but if I want to succeed or seize an opportunity, I
must have faith in my abilities, acknowledge my gratitude for them, and demonstrate my worth.
