It was 4 years ago when I entered the seminary for the formation of the priesthood. Formal
formation for academe, recreational activity, spiritual ceremonies, and pastoral and communal
activity. These are the activity provided by the seminary towards the goal of integral formation for
the young men who aspire to become the leader of the church. The group was composed of
qualified young men from different families. The robust formation has its horarium where
activities for every day have designated time. Beginning to rise up until the lights are off. The
seminary provides the resources needed for the formation. These are the monthly recollection of
was psychosocial of the individual visited through reflection. The monthly colloquium by the
professional psychologist where he made heart-to-heart talks were the psychodynamics and
cognitive and behavioral background of individuals unraveled to know the emerging problem
affecting the performance of individual young men in the formation.

The group of seminarians was a medium of change. With the frequent interaction in each
and, everyone influences arise were the influence of pleasing attitude and deviant attitude. Groups
within the group this is existing in the seminary which this group utilizes as brotherhood or an
avenue to bully certain individuals whom they target to be subject to their tripping. But with good,
this group serves as an avenue for them to grow and build their self-esteem. Moreover, serve as a
support system that motivates each other and feel them a sense of belongingness despite their
differences.

The group of seminarians is the target of change. The seminary annual closed at 60 young
men yet as the formation year continues the group diminishes little by little. It was for the reason
of termination of several individuals who made grave violations towards the formation that might
damage the integrity that the seminary community build up. The head of the seminary told that it
is better to have quality rather than quantity. He is ready to release those seminarians who made
deviant acts like a violation of using the phone and more grievously the disobedience towards the
formators. It is to eradicate the emerging problem that will influence other fellow seminarians.

The group of seminarians is the target of change. The seminary conducts its monthly
general assemblies where concerns and problems are raised and addressed for the betterment of
the formation and of the seminary. The involvement of the seminarians through the opinion they
raise serves awareness in the formators regarding the formation. After, hearing the clamor of

seminarians the seminary formators will modify the schedule and activity that will suit to the
seminarian’s capacity and capability.

The principle of specific objectives

The social worker must formulate the objectives for the group. The objectives to formulate
are based on the present needs of the group. Moreover, it must not only focus on the group
collectively it also tackles the individual needs of the individual within the group.

The principle of democratic group self determination

The social worker is not the one who made a decision for the group. Instead, he/she is about
to facilitate the group to decide on their own. And determine their own activities that take the
maximum of their ability and capacity. the primary source of control in decision-making is the
group.

The principle of resource utilization

The social worker will help the group access and utilize the needed resources available to
the agency. It is for the maximum and enriches the group experience.

The principle of evaluation

The social worker will conduct a continuous evaluation of the process and programs in the
group work. It is also time to gather the outcome which reflects the effectivity and efficacy of the
group.
