Abstract

This paper argued that architecture is more than just a picture of a visual understanding of

how designers work and communicate through visual means, but rather that visual

communication through diagrams, sketches, charts, photographs, videos, and animation is

essential to the process of conceptual exploration and information dissemination that helps to

shape the daily quality of life for people, communities, and societies.

Keywords: Architects, Visualization, Presentation drawing.

Introduction

The goal of the course is to teach students to measure drawing's essential techniques so

they may develop the necessary abilities for using graphical conventions and presentation to

support effective visual and graphical communication and their applications in the workplace. It

explains the principles of perspective drawing, how to practice it, and gives an overview of

traditional perspective techniques. The application of tints and shadows in orthographic and

perspective drawings, as well as the study of the fundamentals of creating scaled perspective

drawings, are highlighted.

Visual Communication

The design and creation of visual communications requires the selection and application of

methods, materials, design elements, design principles, and final presentation formats.

Collectively, these are the resources of visual language. Drawings can be used for the purposes

of observation, visualization, and presentation. Observational drawings are freehand drawings

from direct observation to represent the form, materials, and textures of objects or structures.

Visualization drawings are in the form of quick ideation sketches for conceptualizing and

communicating ideas. Presentation drawings are refined and finished and can be drawn using

manual and/or digital methods.

Drawing Materials:

Pencil – The majority of architects and designers are accustomed to using this type of technical

drawing pencil. This pencil works well for drafting, technical drawings, sketching, and can even

be used for shading. It comes with a Mars Rotary Action Lead Pointer and Tub for sharpening

the lead.a

Lead Holders-

 Lead holders use standard 2 mm leads.

• When the pencil is not in use, the exposed length of the lead shaft can be changed or withdrawn
using the clutch mechanism's push-button action.

•A lead pointer must be used to maintain the lead point, which can handle different line weights.

Mechanical Pencil
 The lead sizes for mechanical pencils include 0.3 mm, 0.5 mm, 0.7 mm, and 0.9 mm.

 The lead is automatically advanced through a metal sleeve using a push-button device.

This sleeve ought to be long enough to extend past the straightedges and triangles used in

drafting.

 Mechanical pencils don't need to have their comparatively thin leads sharpened.

 0.3 mm pencils produce extremely fine lines, but if too much pressure is used, the thin

leads can break.

 The most useful pencils for everyday drawing are those that measure 0.5 mm.

 For writing and sketching, 0.7 mm and 0.9 mm pencils are useful; do not use them to

make thick line weights.

Wood-Encased Pencils

 For freehand drawing and sketching, wooden drawing pencils are frequently used. The

wood must be removed if it is to be used for drafting in order to expose 3/4" of the lead,

which can then be sharpened with sandpaper or a lead pointer.

 Each of the three types of pencils can create precise line drawings. You will gradually

come to prefer the trait as you test out each type. Feel the texture, weight, and balance of

a specific instrument as you draw.

Eraser- To eliminate unneeded or preliminary lines, use the eraser. A line that is close to other

lines on the drawing that are not being erased can be erased using an erasing shield.

Drawing pen- One of the greatest pens for sketching is the Technical Pen pigment liners and

Uni Pin technical fine liner pens. For those studying architecture, it is a place of high priority. An

engineer, architect, or drafter uses a technical pen, a specialist tool, to create lines for technical,

architectural, or engineering drawings that are always the same width. Technical pens either

employ an ink cartridge that can be changed out or a refillable ink reservoir.

Drafting Tape- A thin, flexible tape called "drafting tape" is used to secure blueprints, drawings,

and tracings to drawing boards. It sticks well and comes off with no damage or residue. Drafting

tape is typically used to retain lettering while creating and doing layouts. It is covered with a

weak adhesive and is used to adhere paper to drafting boards.

Drafting Paper- Drafts are extremely vital because they enable architects to explain their plans

to clients and construction workers graphically. The purpose of drafting paper is to create

technical drawings.

Measuring Tools for Drafting & Architectural Construction:

Drafting Board- Similar to a drawing table, a drafting board offers a big, flat surface that is

simple to draw on. However, drafting tables include a fully integrated, movable drafting head

that the user can position at any angle.

Scale Ruler- The purpose of a scale ruler is to establish the precise dimensions of a distance on a

scaled drawing. The majority of architectural, engineering, and construction drawings and

blueprints are scaled to comfortably accommodate big locations, structures, or products on a

sizeable piece of paper.

T-square- The main purpose of a T-square, a technical drawing tool used by draftsmen, is to

serve as a guide for horizontal lines on a drafting table. It could also serve as a guide for a set

square when drawing vertical or diagonal lines. Its name refers to the letter T that it resembles.

Triangle - Trusses can be built using triangles. Numerous structures, including roofs, bridges,

and buildings, utilize trusses. Triangles are created by joining horizontal and diagonal beams in

trusses. Truss bridges are the names given to bridges that utilize trusses.

Drawing compass- Drawing arcs or circles requires the use of a special drawing tool called a

drawing compass. This device is also referred to as a pair of compasses or just a compass. It can

also be used to more precisely measure distances on maps. It is a tool for technical drawing that

can be used to make arcs or circles.

Template- Drafting templates are used when it is required to design the same symbols

repeatedly. A drawing template is a flat sheet of plastic with standard symbols cut out of it. The

drafting template forms serve as a guide for drawing symbols on blueprints. There are many

templates available for various architectural scales.

Conclusion
To mediate the intended visual language and jointly produce tools that will work for everyone,

consideration must always be given, evaluations must be carried out, and frequent discussions

must take place with all personnel. Additionally, crucial to improving the effectiveness of the

design is the use of a consistent visual language. It's crucial that the visual language doesn't go

too far and wind up being difficult for the average person to understand. Linking interesting

communication and the actual design will require careful balancing. A visual language must

maximize its potential in order to deliver the most material possible. The role of standards is to

establish nationally recognized rules for technical drawing.
