5” MTM SPEAKER KIT
ACOUSTIC TIME-ALIGNED & COAXIAL SINGLE POINT SOUND SOURCE MONITORS
The Peerless HDS250 high-definition loud speaker system is designed to reproduce both music & home theatre audio in true audiophile
quality. This attractive and relatively compact sized speaker system gives excellent and enjoyable long-term listening. The powerfully dynamic
5” HDS phase-plug Peerless driver supplies articulate, tight, fast bass with ultra-low distortion and minimal harmonics up to surprisingly high
volume levels! The crystal clarity of a beautifully detailed wide sound stage is improved over a majority of other speaker systems due to both
the coaxial speaker alignment and the tweeter being counter-sunk into the cabinet which achieves mechanical acoustic time alignment for a
brilliantly accurate reproduction with pinpoint sound imaging. Combined with a crossover developed with particular attention being paid to the
phase alignment achieves a uniquely seamless transition between the tweeter and mid-woofer not usually mastered by traditional systems. This
makes the HDS250 ideal in home theatre due to the impressive impact of the forward realism achieved and can be placed in any or all of the
room positions (front/rear/centre) due to the inherent wide dispersion. The incredible accuracy achieved places this speaker in a “Monitor” class
faithfully reproducing even the most subtle details of your favourite music. Multiple driver configurations are also more efficient so are also quite
suitable for the low power of valve amplifiers, etc. Ideally matched with our XLS1000 or XLS800 subwoofers for an exceptional high-end audio
system. A special version of the HDS250 has been optimised specifically as a horizontally mounted centre channel unit, see our HDS255c.

theatre setup, gives a new level of pinpoint focus imaging to sound effects and their location relative to the screen just as the director intended.
The Peerless HDS250c can be matched with the Peerless HDS150 satellites, HDS250 sister speakers or the floor standing HDS455. Also

8" SUBWOOFER KIT XLS800
EXTENDED AUDIOPHILE PERFORMANCE IN A COMPACT ENCLOSURE
Audiophile level Sub that easily achieves extended bass performance
that fills the low frequency to subsonic with clean tight bass that has
authority without that one-note boom of unoptimised units. To achieve
this we have redeveloped and optimised a 200Wrms amplifier to have
remarkably stable performance in the low frequency region down
to 10Hz, producing extremely low distortion with ample power up to
200Wrms. We also tweaked the Q of the Peerless XLS to improve its
performance in such a compact enclosure that produces ample bass
down to the subsonics. The result is bass that’s so clean you don’t notice
it unless the audio material wants you to. Completely finished cabinet,
lined with internal wadding. Attractive wood-grain textured black vinyl box
with genuine solid wood feature panel to match our HDS line of speakers.

• Low resonance, high performance design.
The 200W XLS800 Subwoofer has been developed for premium performance in small to medium sized rooms for either satellite speaker setups,
complimenting any sized loud speaker system with warm quality subsonics, and/or home theatre systems where a compact, yet impressively
performing subwoofer is required that does not impose on too much space. The all new, exclusive to WES, true 200Wrms, built-in amplifier has
been factory tweaked to our XLS800 designers specifications for extraordinary performance in the low frequency region giving excellent control
and power to your audio experience and the absolute best dollar value. This crackerjack amplifier connects via RCA leads to the pre-amp output
on a high-end stereo system or the sub-out on any home theatre receiver. Provision for connection directly to the stereos speaker wires is there
for upgrading midi systems, etc. Also, world exclusive to WES, is our all new, high performance eXtra Long Stroke subwoofer driver unit that
was developed by Peerless Denmark to our designers specifications for this particular application. Giving exceptionally impressive performance
for only an 8” sized driver, this XLS subwoofer has a rigid aerodynamic cast alloy chassis, composite stiffened exotic materials pulp cone, extra
long stroke voice coil, very large magnet assembly and high power copper voice coil which produces a driver with dynamic tight fast clean
bass. These two high technology devices are beautifully integrated into a handsome, premium quality cabinet. This unique subwoofer enclosure
has double thickness 36mm front baffle, a centre bracing rib with vent support to provide a very strong and rigid subwoofer box with reduced
cabinet movement and thus tightening bass and reducing distortion. Flanged ports and curved edge box and grille design reduces air-turbulence
distortion for a better acoustic, more natural bass sound. This remarkable achievement in a relatively compact subwoofer is a clever compromise
between practical cabinet size and impressive low frequency sub-bass performance. The combination of a Top-Of-The-Line Danish made driver
with a quality, dual ported box and optimised 200Wrms amplifier, gives performance that equals or betters most 10” subs, without the bulkiness
or boom of similarly priced units. The smooth, authoritative bass response extends below 30Hz giving clean, accurate sound that will satisfy a
majority of bass hungry enthusiasts with DVD sound effects reproduced with dramatic aplomb. The XLS800 Active Subwoofer will excel in high
end speaker systems with CD, DVD, DVD-A and SACD music. It will impress by its ability to provide the lower octaves of bass that are normally
not produced by a subwoofer speaker of this compact size.

12” SUBWOOFER KIT AUDIOPHILE EXTREME
The XLS1000 is a true audiophile subwoofer. It is easily capable of out performing a majority of units costing multiples more. A beautifully clean
sound with very fast and tight bass at either subtle volumes or at extra high SPL, reproducing deep, dynamic and detailed bass at frequencies
down to the infra-sonic. This top-of-the-line subwoofer will exceed the requirements for a majority of systems and rooms with both accuracy in
music and explosive effects for Home Theatre that will shake your world! The incredible depth of bass goes down below 18Hz in an enclosure of
only 60 litres. An eXtra-Long-Stroke 12” Peerless subwoofer is used, set in the forward firing mode. The Peerless XLS, extra heavy duty, exotic
material manufactured subwoofer is complemented by a duplicate 12” rear mounted Passive Radiator. This is a non-powered “Drone Cone” that
utilises the low frequency energy within the box, similar to a port but with some distinct advantages that improve performance and specifications.
Our dual 12” design achieves superior audiophile sound with lower than normally achievable frequency response for a given sized enclosure,
all without the air breathing distortion normally associated with a vented enclosure used at such low frequencies and high volume levels.
Super low, super loud and super clean bass. This ultra-high performance,
audio phyle sub-woofer gives out copious amounts of very tight, very fast
and very acurate bass. Designed for both distortion-free music and earth
shaking home theater special effects, the XLS1000 can faithfully reproduce
any bass signal from the highly demanding DVD and Super-Audio CD sources.
The XLS1000 will fill larger sized rooms with beautifully accurate bass of
clarity and definition only achievable in an exceptionally well designed
unit. The new dual 12" XLS radiator design will effortlessly reproduce the
most demanding bass without distortion or "boomyness" up to incredible
sound levels. Passive radiator technology has been used in our design to
eliminate port air velocity noise, increase efficiency and achieve
incredibly low bass in a relatively compact unit of only 60L. A truly top-of-
the-line, high performance sub-woofer that will match to any high-end
speaker and theater system.

think that last detail is really necessary but that is a story
for another time.
This very fine attention to detail on the part of the de-
signer has made the task difficult for the kit supplier but it
means that you, the ultimate kit-builder, will have an easy
time putting them together.
The loudspeaker cabinets are supplied fully assembled
in two forms, unfinished MDF or black vinyl. In the case
of the unfinished MDF cabinets, it is up to you as to how
you finish them.
The prototype cabinets featured in this article were
spray-painted to a very high standard. If you have access
to a high-pressure spray gun and spray booth, so much
the better.
Alternatively, if you intend painting them, we recom-
mend using a roller, to avoid leaving brush marks – it is
amazing how brush marks can catch the light and become
noticeable, especially if gloss paint is used.
Not only are the cabinets fully assembled but they also
