Kong is the last of a species of giant gorillas that lived on Skull Island. He is a powerful fighter that protects Ann Darrow after she is offered as a sacrifice. Eventually, Kong is captured and brought to New York City before being killed.

Kong is a 25 foot tall, 8 ton silverback gorilla with great strength, agility, and intelligence. He has developed fighting techniques to battle the large dinosaurs on Skull Island and is very protective of Ann Darrow.

In the original 1933 version, Ann Darrow is an out of work actress who is taken by Kong as a sacrifice. She serves as the damsel in distress. Later versions portray her as having more abilities and developing a connection with Kong.

Kong was the last known member of a giant species of

gorilla that flourished among the prehistoric relics of the

infamous Skull Island. Apparently introduced to the
prehistoric fauna several million years ago, this lineage of
giant apes had reached is evolutionary end with Kong,
who himself had lived to a great grand old age before
Skull Island was discovered by movie producer, Carl
Denham.
Denham brought with him the young actress Ann Darrow,
who was kidnapped by the small tribe of indigenous
humans who, as was their custom, offered her to Kong as
a sacrifice. Entranced by Ann’s beauty, Kong took her
with him up to his lair high in the mountains of Skull
Island, protecting her from any number of the island’s
reptilian denizens. Ann was eventually rescued by Jack
Driscoll, Denham's screenwriter (or the ship’s first mate,
in the original) and Kong himself was captured via the
use of gas-bombs. The mighty ape was taken back to
New York City and put on public display. Kong’s captivity
was not to last long, however; he soon broke free, setting
about the city in search of Ann, eventually taking her with
him to the top of the Empire State Building. The reign of
King Kong came to an end as that became the site of his
grand last stand when he was shot down by fighter
planes – or, as Carl Denham intoned over the big apes
fallen body, 'twas beauty killed the beast.'.
Years later, another giant ape was discovered dwelling
on an island not far from the isles of Japan. This
particular ape had been exposed to radioactive fallout,
growing to several times the size of Kong, (sufficient to
contend with giant radioactive dinosaur known as
Godzilla), but it is not known if this had once been a lost
member of Kong’s tribe, or simply a normal specimen of
gorilla. (Str39)

PERSONALITY
Kong is a dominant, silverback male of his species,
starting to get on in years; in battle, he is ferocious,
cunning, and very territorial, driving other animals from
his territory and attacking the big predators like the giant
Vastatosaurus on sight; He is obsessively and
dangerously protective of Ann Darrow. He also has a
personal grudge against Jack Driscoll

HISTORY OF KONG
In 1933, Kong firmly took his place in pantheon of
great monsters, among Dracula, Frankenstein,
the Wolf-Man, and ushered in a whole new
archetype – the ‘giant monster on the loose’.
Although Kong technically was not the first (that honor
goes to the Brontosaurus in the silent version of the Lost
World), he set the bar as the state-of-the-art creature
feature for sixty years. He has spawned a slew of
imitators – everything from Mighty Joe Young, to
Kongorilla – as well as a marching army of giant insects,
reptiles, dinosaurs, and along with the Beast From
20,000 Fathoms, was a direct inspiration for
Godzilla. And of course, all the Ray Harryhausen
creatures owe their original inspiration to Kong.
Kong himself has undergone a number of
incarnations over the years, including a stint
through Tokyo, and two remakes. Peter
Jackson’s Kong would have duplicate stats
as above – though technically scaled slightly
larger – the original Kong was scaled at 18’ in
the Skull Island sequences, and 24’ in New
York – the Jackson’ Kong was simply scaled to
25’ with the Skull Island fauna adjusted up
to match. Other versions of King Kong are listed

POWERS AND ABILITIES

The 1976 King Kong was larger than the original (or the
2005 Kong), and walked upright like a human rather than
the mostly quadruple gait of a true gorilla, which has led
to the suggestion that this is a different species than the
Megaprimatus that was found on Skull Island (perhaps
related to the similarly upright-walking Kong that was
discovered on Faro Island in Japan).
The 1976 Kong was later resurrected and given an
artificial heart in a sequel (serious), and fathered a son
with a giant female ape apparently also found on the
same island.

The giant Kong was captured and taken to

However, the monster, Godzilla had just

the ability to deliver tactile electrical attacks. The two
eventually toppled together off a cliff into the ocean,
whereupon Kong emerged alone – seemingly victorious
and set off back to Faro Island.
