A CONCISE NARRATIVE REPORT FOR SCIENCE

AND MATHEMATICS MONTH

In accordance to the memorandum under Department of Education and in line with the
celebration of National Science Technology Week, all education institutions are obliged to celebrate
annually the development of our society brought by emerging progress in scientific studies and
discovery. As an institution, we should promote societal development and able to foster to our student
how modernization affects our everyday living and to make them realize and visualize the importance
of technological advancement not only in the present time but also in the next generation.

Thus the Science and Mathematics Department of Monimar Development Academy


Incorporated Senior High School Department convened a committee forming the AghamNayan group
of science and mathematics enthusiast.

The Science and Mathematics Consortium in Monlimar Development Academy, Inc. under
Senior High School Department will be conducting their annual program in line with the celebration of
National Science and Mathematics Month 2020. This year’s theme “Science for the People Math for the
Society Enabling Technologies in Facing the Challenges of New Normal.”

So, in line with this we would like to celebrate the prosperity by conducting several programs,
that for sure will help the students to appreciate what this celebration has to offer not only to
experience fun games and activities but also self-realization, encourage and inspire our student to love
and appreciate Science and Mathematics.

On January 2021, The AghamNayan Committee of Science and Mathematics Department starts

DIGITAL POSTER MAKING

ELIGBLE ENTRY:
 This competition is open for all SHS students (Grade 11 & 12) of Monlimar Development
Academy Inc.
 The theme for this contest is "Science for the People Math for the Society: Enabling
Technologies in Facing the Challenges of New Normal"
 The registration will start on January 4, 2021 to January 31, 2021
 In terms of transparency, the participants must screen record their work/ project.

The participant will use only their mobile device (smartphones ONLY) to create a poster. They may
choose from the following application:

AGHAM-NAYAN PHOTOGRAPHY COMPETITION

ELIGIBILITY
 The contest is open ONLY to all SHS MONLIMARIAN photo enthusiast.
 Student from different schools are NOT qualified to join the contest.

PHOTO SPECIFICATIONS
 The theme for this year’s photo contest is “What does pandemic mean to you?”
 Each contestant must submit only one (1) photo entry.
 Entry must be the contestant’s original work.
 Participants are allowed to use any of these camera (such as: DSLR camera or mobile phone
camera)
 A single “High Dynamic Range” photo produced from multiple exposures and Black & White
Photos are acceptable.
 Photos taken by film camera, fisheye lens, and stitched panoramas are not eligible.
 Post processing of the image is limited to cropping and color enhancements, including
shadows and highlights only.
 Photo manipulation is not allowed.
 Entries should include the photo’s metadata (ISO, Aperture Value, and Shutter Speed).
 Photo must be in JPEG format.
 Photo must not contain any copyrighted material including artworks and other photos.
 Entry must not contain date stamps, watermarks or any text on the image.
 Entry must not have been awarded in any other photo contests and/or commercially published
whether for news, advertising or otherwise.
 Contestants must agree and comply with the Official Rules.
SUBMISSION OF PHOTOS

 To join, contestants must register and submit their entry online by filling out the AGHAMNAYAN
Photo Contest Entry Form (Forms are available at AGHAMNAYAN Site)
 Filename of the photo must be in the format “SURNAME_SECTION_PHOTO TITLE”.
 Contestants will be required to provide the following information upon submission of entry:
o Full Name:
o Date of Birth
o Mailing Address
o Mobile Number
o E-mail Address
o Photo Title
o Photo Caption: (1-2 sentences explaining/describing the photograph and its relevance to the
theme)
o Date the photo was captured: (Month, Year)
o Location the photo was captured: (ex: Flat Rocks, Mt. Makiling, Los Baños, Laguna)
o Camera Used
o Photo Metadata: (ISO, Aperture Value, Shutter Speed)

 AGHAMNAYAN will only accept entries submitted through the online entry form.
 Entries submitted through other means will not be accepted and will be automatically
disqualified.
 Submission begins at 8:00 am PST on January 25, 2021 and ends at 11:59 pm PST on January
31, 2021.
 Entries submitted beyond the deadline shall NOT be accepted.

CRITERIA
 40% - Content and Relevance to the Theme
 30% - Artistic Value and Communication Potential of the Image
 30% - Technical Excellence and Quality

AWARDING CEREMONY AND EXHIBIT DETAILS


 The announcement of the Top 5 winning photos will be held on February 18, 2021.
 Winners will be required to come to Monlimar Development Academy, Inc. to claim their prizes
(Winners are advised to bring a copy of their Parent consent and follow Health protocol
implemented by the school)
 Electronic Certificate for participants will also be given via Online.

OTHER GUIDELINES
The finalists (Top 20 entries) shall be posted at the MDA Official Page for viewing and voting for the
People’s Choice Award starting 01 February until 17 February 2020 at 12 midnight.
Results of the competition are final and non-appealable.

PHOTO SCREENING/ JUDGING PROCESS


 The photos/photo series shall be pre-screened and pre-selected by the AGHAMNAYAN
committee based on the given criteria via individual sheet scoring on 12 February 2021. The
average scores per photo shall be tallied.
 From the Top 20 photos, the judges will choose their Top 3 (also via individual sheet scoring) on
February 17, 2021.
 The Posting of Entries for People’s Choice Award Will be on February 04, 2021 via MDA Official
Facebook Page and for viewing exhibit Photos will be posted at AGHAMNAYAN Official
Website.
 People’s Choice award will be based on the entry’s number of Shares in the MDA Facebook
page from February 17, 2021 at 12 noon.
 The announcement of winners will be on February 18, 2020 via ZOOM, AGHAMNAYAN Official
Website and MDA Official FB Page.

ELIGBLE ENTRY:
 This competition is open for all SHS students (Grade 11 & 12) of Monlimar Development
Academy Inc.
 The theme for this contest is "Promoting Health and Social Awareness Campaign about
Pandemic."
 The registration will start on January 4, 2021 to January 31, 2021
 In terms of transparency, the participants must screen record their work/ project.

The participant will use only their mobile device (smartphones ONLY) to create a infographic. They may

ELIGIBILITY:
This is competition is open for all Senior High School in Monlimar
 
HOW TO JOIN:
Visit the official website of AghamNayan and find the official poster of this competition and click the
link to register.
 
ELIGIBLE ENTRY:
Your entry must be your own original work, and your entry cannot have been selected as winner in any
other contest.
 
FINISHED PRODUCT:
The finished project to be uploaded in Facebook should include the following
 Name of your project
 Explanation of the creation process of the build itself (at least one paragraph)
 A video of guided tour of itself within the project

We are not claiming ownership rights to your Entry. However, by submitting an Entry, you grant us an
irrevocable, royalty-free, right and license to use, review, assess, test and otherwise analyze your Entry
and all its content in connection with this Contest and use your Entry in any media whatsoever now
known or later invented for any non-commercial or commercial purpose, including, but not limited to,
the marketing, sale, promotion or services, without further permission from you.

Your Entry may be posted on a public website. We are not responsible for any unauthorized use of your
Entry by visitors to this website. We are not obligated to use your Entry for any purpose, even if it has
been selected as a winning Entry.

JUDGING/ EVENT TIMELINE:


 The Official start of registration is from January 18, 2020 to January 24, 2020
 The deadline is on Feb 1, 2020 and will end on February 8, 2020
 Entries will be viewed and judged to determine finalists. You will be notified by the coordinators
whether you are finalists.
 Winners (Champion, 1st place, and 2nd place) will be announced during AghamNayan Culminating.

AGHAM-NAYAN AHA! VIDEO TUTORIAL

ELGIBLE ENTRY:
This competition is open for all SHS students (Grade 11 & 12) of Monlimar
Development Academy Inc. Only first 30 participants will be accommodated.

FORMAT:
 Video should be between 3 to 5 minutes in length. Videos that are not in between
of the length mentioned will be having a deduction.
 All information presented in the video must be cited, giving credit to the original
source. Plagiarism of any kind will result in disqualification.
 Submission: Each entry must submit to email by February  3-8, 2021

IMPORTANT DATE:
 Date of submission - February 3-8, 2021
 Date of Elimination - February 10, 2021
 Date of Judging - February 15, 2021

EVALUATION CRITERIA:
 Content of Video (in line with the theme as stated above) - 25%
 Creativity - 10%
 Accuracy of information - 25%
 Originality and entertainment value - 10%
 Effectiveness in reaching to the target audience (general public) - 15%
 Overall quality video - 15%

AGHAM-NAYAN VIRTUAL QUIZ BEE

ELEGIBILITY
This competition is open for all SHS students (Grade 11 & 12) of Monlimar
Development Academy Inc.

HOW TO JOIN
An email will be sent to the participants to verify their registration and to advise them of
other requirements needed to join the quiz bee. ALL PARTICIPANTS SHOULD
REGISTER ON OR BEFORE January 08, 2021, 10:00 PM. Completion of this is highly
advised for the processing of participant's waiver and consent form and E-participation
certificates.

MECHANICS
1. The quiz bee has three rounds; EASY, AVERAGE, and DIFFICULT. Below are the
corresponding number of items, points and time allotment for answering each item.

Questions of AGHAMNAYAN Virtual Quiz Bee will come from the following areas:
 General Biology
 General Chemistry
 General Physics
 Cell Biology
 Anatomy and Physiology
 Genetics
 Earth Science
 Algebra
 Geometry
 Trigonometry
 Statistics and Probability 

 
2. This competition will be held on February 16, 2021 via zoom at 3PM, and will be
broadcasted live using AGHAMANAYAN FB Page. Participants must enter the zoom
room 30 minutes before the scheduled time.

3. Participants will have to use either one of the following: desktop, laptop, tablet, or
cellphone. Participants must have their own internet or data connection and must have
their camera and microphone open throughout the quiz bee.
 
4. Each participant must have a white board/illustration board/bond papers,
markers/chalks, and paper and pens (for solving).
 
5. Each participant will start with zero score at the start of Easy Round. The
accumulation of points all throughout the quiz bee will be cumulative.
 
6. The Quiz Master will read each of the questions twice. The questions will also be
presented via PowerPoint presentation and shall be pinned by all participants in the
zoom room.
 
7. All participants will have to wait for the signal from the Quiz Master before answering
the questions.

8. When time is up, the participants will be asked to raise their boards or papers to
show their answers to their cameras. Participants can only show up and bring down
their boards or papers upon instruction of the Quiz Master.

9. Questions and protests from participants regarding the answer to the items will be


entertained. If a protest shall arise, the participants may raise their complaints to the
Quiz Master, and will be forwarded to the Board of Judges. Questions and protests
must be forwarded before the next question is read; otherwise, they will be considered
invalid. The decision of the Board of Judges is always final.
 
10. At the end of the EASY ROUND, the TOP 50% (rounded to the nearest whole number
plus one) of the participants will be qualified for the Average Round. After the AVERAGE
ROUND, only the TOP 3 participants will proceed to the Difficult and Final Round.
Tabulation of scores will be given after every question.
 
11. In case of a tie, a Clincher Round will be given. Participants are allowed to write
down their answers immediately while the question is being read. Each question in the
Clincher Round is good for one minute only. Once a participant answers correctly, the
other participant will automatically be eliminated. Clincher Round will however continue
if none of the participants correctly answered the question.
 
12. The organizers reserve the right to change all rules and guidelines for this event
without prior notice.

 RULES AND REGULATIONS

1. Participants are expected to attend the contest orientation and dry run on
January 27-29, 2021, 4:00 PM via zoom.
 
2. All participants are expected to go online an hour before the quiz bee, and are
already in the zoom room 30 minutes before.
 
3. The rules and mechanics must BE STRICTLY OBSERVED on the day of the quiz
bee.
 
4. Use of calculators, electronic gadgets, written formulas and the like during the
quiz bee is PROHIBITED.
 
5. For the duration of the quiz bee, each participant should stay in a private (quiet
and undisturbed) room. Only the participant can stay in the said room and
shouldn’t be accompanied by anyone.
 
6. Participants should be ALWAYS facing their cameras throughout the contest,
capturing and showing the upper half of their body.
 
7. Under no circumstances should the participants turn off or set their microphone
on mute.
 
8. No one is allowed to go outside of their private rooms once the quiz bee has
started, unless official breaks are called by the Quiz Master.
 
9. Non-compliance to the rules would result to automatic disqualification from the
quiz bee.

AGHAM-NAYAN ESCAPE ZOOM

ELIGIBILITY
The contest is open ONLY to all SHS MONLIMARIAN A.Y. 2020-2021

HOW TO JOIN
Willing participants are required to fill up the registration form from the AghamNayan website.

 An email will be sent to the participants to verify their registration and to advise them of other
requirements needed to join the game. ALL PARTICIPANTS SHOULD REGISTER from January 08, 2021
to January 10, 2021. Completion of this is highly advised for the processing of participant's waiver and
consent form and E-participation certificates.

MECHANICS
1. The Escape Zoom has one goal. To find the instructor that has been missing by solving puzzles
that will lead to another that will eventually lead to the place where the missing instructor will be
found.
2. The team must be composed of 5 players per strand.
3. They must decide on a group name that is relevant to the case.
4. Each player of the team will be individually connected to zoom meeting that will be hosted by a
facilitator from the Science and Mathematics Department.
5. They must have dressed appropriately as a student of an academic institution and encouraged
to prepare a green screen for virtual background.
6. Facilitators present in the zoom meeting will guide each team on what needs to happen while
solving puzzles. These facilitators are only available when confirming your answers for each
puzzle.
7. The team or group who will find the missing instructor in the shortest period of time will be
declared as the champion of the Escape Zoom.
8. The event will be held on February 17, 2021 via Zoom starting 9 o'clock in the morning and will
be broadcast live at the official MDA Facebook Page. Participants must enter the meeting 30
minutes before the scheduled time.
9. The participants are encouraging to use laptop as their device in playing the Escape Zoom and
must have their own internet or data connection. They are also required to open their cameras
and microphone during the event.
10. Facilitators will give the clues upon the request and the interaction of the participants to the
scene.
11. Questions and protests from the participants regarding the answer to the items will be
entertained. If a protest shall arise, the participants may raise their complaints to the Facilitator
and will be forwarded to the head facilitator. Questions and protests must be forwarded during
the event otherwise they will be considered invalid after the game.
12. The organizers and the facilitators reserve the right to change all rules and guidelines for this
event without prior notice.

the game.

3. Use of secondary device as a tool for finding answers and as reference and the like during the
game is PROHIBITED.
4. For the duration of the game, each participant should stay in a private (quiet and undisturbed)
room. Only the said participant should be in the room and must not be accompanied by anyone.
5. Participants should be ALWAYS facing their cameras throughout the game and at least half of
their body must be visible in the monitor.
6. No one is allowed to walk from their place once the game has started unless official breaks are
called by the Facilitator.
7. Non-compliance to the rules would result to automatic disqualification from the game.
