    This document describes well log responses in different rock formations: 1. Shale sections show high gamma ray, high resistivity, and low density readings due to shale caving and pore water. SP and resistivity logs collapse in the center of thick shale sections. 2. Porous zones like sandstones exhibit low resistivity readings from conductive pore fluids. Non-porous zones like tight dolostone show negative density readings. 3. Coal beds are identified by very low density and high hydrogen readings. Salt sections can cause faulty well log responses due to hole washout and dissolution of salt in the drilling mud.
