Present simple / Presente simple

¿Cuando lo utilizo?

1. Para comunicar estados o acciones permanentes. The sun is in the solar system.
2. Al manifestar estados o situaciones que son rutinarias o acciones que suceden con
cierta frecuencia. Every summer, me and my family go to Cordoba.
3. Para hablar de hábitos, rutinas o hechos que se repiten en lapsos de tiempo
determinado. I drink coffee every morning. I take piano classes every Monday.
4. Cuando das indicaciones, instrucciones y señales. The supermarket is on your left.

Recordar: el presente simple nunca debe ser usado para describir estados,
situaciones o acciones que pasan en el mismo momento en el que se está hablando,
ya que el tiempo verbal que debe ser usado en estas situaciones es el presente
continuo.

(objeto/animal) doesn't think

Para HE, SHE o IT, el verbo en afirmativo siempre termina en -s: he wants, she needs,
he gives, she thinks.

Existen verbos que terminan en -y : en la tercera persona del singular, se cambia la -y


por -ies:
fly --> flies cry --> cries

Excepción: cuando una vocal precede a la -y, se agrega una -s:


play --> plays pray --> prays

Can / Can`t

● Se utiliza para hablar de una habilidad que se puede o no realizar. I can dance / I
can't do it.
● Se utiliza para pedir permiso. Can I use the restroom? / Can I have another piece
of cake?
● Para ofrecer o pedir ayuda/algo. Can I help you? / Can you open the window,
please?
● Verdades generales. Studying too much time can lead to stress.

Have or Has
Los dos verbos “have” y “have got” (tener) indican posesión. Ejemplos:

➔ I have got a car. (Tengo un coche.)


➔ You have got two brothers. (Tienes dos hermanos.)
➔ He has got a big house. (Él tiene una casa grande.)
➔ She has got a cold. (Ella tiene un resfriado.)
➔ It has got a ball. (Tiene una pelota.)
➔ We have got brown hair. (Tenemos pelo moreno.)
➔ They have got red bicycles. (Ellos tienen bicicletas rojas.)
