Aloysius Institute of Technology

Introduction

Social media is a "computer-based technology that facilitates the sharing of ideas

thoughts, and information through the building of virtual networks and communities"

(Dollarhide, reviewed by Drury, 2021). 

Social Media has been a very most helpful platform in this crisis the world is facing.

Nevertheless, social media can also distract learning where students spend too much time on

social sites. According to teachersboard.co.uk, "On an academic level, social media can have

a negative effect on student productivity when it comes to concentration in the classroom,

timekeeping, and conscientiousness". It causes a great distraction in learning that keeps

students expose to such a platform. A central point that prompts interruption and deterrent of

mind. 

The main objective of this study is to identify the effects of social media amid modular

learning and how it affects the performance of every student at Saint Aloysius Institute of

Technology. 

Statement of the Problem

               This study seeks to answers the following questions:

1. How social media affects the modular learning of the Student in Saint Aloysius

Institute of Technology?
2. What are the distractions given by social media in terms of modular learning?

3. What are the students' perceptions of using social media as an essential learning

method amid distance learning? 

Scope and Delimitation

           This study covers only Grade 12 HUMSS students in Saint Aloysius Institute of

Technology, Inc. Ormoc City, Leyte that are learning through module's during the school

year 2021-2022

Significance of the study

           The result of this study will be valuable and beneficial to the following:

The student is vulnerable to such a case; the student would be aware of spending too much

time on social media that easily get distracted when studying.

The Teacher will be able to assess every student during class hours and to control doing task

sheets.
