1. As you observe the class, look into the characteristics of the learners. Note their
ages.
 As I observe the pupils are hyper active not that focused. Likes to roam
around, they listen when a story is said. Their ages varies 6 ½ to 7 ½
years old.
2. How many boys are there? How many girls?
 There are 8 girls and 5 boys.
3. Focus on their behavior. Are they already able to manage their own behavior?
 Since they are still young, almost all of them do not know yet how to
manage their behavior.
4. Can the learners already work independently?
 They can read and write with their own but they still need teacher’s
assistance.
5. Describe their span of attention.
 Their attention or span of attention too short. They can focus for just a
few minutes and after that they usually make noise and some keep on
talking to their classmates.

Analyse and answer these questions on observed classroom management practices.


It is also good to ask the teacher for additional information, so you can validate
your observation. Write your notes below; and then organize your data in the table
that follows.

1. Are there areas in the classroom for specific purposes (storage of teaching
aids, books, student’s belongings, supplies, etc.)? Describe these areas. Will
it make a difference if these areas for specific purposes are not present?
 Yes, there are specific areas in the classroom for specific purpose.
Books are properly arranged at the back of the classroom, it is easy
access whenever the teacher needs it for discussion. They also have
chalk box in front and in the table.

2. Are these rules and procedures posted in the room? List them down. Do
these reinforce positive behaviour?
 Yes, also the rules and procedures are posted inside the classroom.
Like for example, cleaners for the day and keep your table clean after
eating, and some other rules are properly posted.
3. Did the students participate in making the classroom rules? If the Resource
Teacher is available, ask him/her to describe the process. What’s the effect
of the students’ participation in rule-making on student’s behavior?
 According to their teacher, since the students are still young at age
some of the rules are not followed properly. The teacher said she
explain to her pupils that they should follow the rules.
4. What are the daily routines done by the Resource Teacher? (Prayer,
attendance, assignment of monitors, warm-up activities, etc.) How are they
done?
 Since it is a Catholic school, the teacher starts the class by opening
prayer, to be followed by greeting her students, checking the
attendance, assignments are too be submitted after class.

5. Is there a seating arrangement? What is the basis of this arrangement? Does


this help in managing the class?
 The classroom is consists of six square tables which can occupy 4
pupils in each. The arrangement of the tables, there are 3 in front and
3 at the back. Yes.
6. Observe the noise level in the classroom. How is this managed?
 The noise level in the classroom is manageable by the teacher. The
teacher is trying hard to catch their attention most of the time so that
by asking or doing activity the pupils’ noise will be lessens.
7. If the learner is not following instruction or is off-task, what does the
Resource Teacher do? Describe the behaviour strategies used.
 In some point when the teacher see that a certain student is not
listening in the discussion she ask question with the pupil.
8. What does the Resource Teacher do to reinforce positive behaviors?
(behaviour strategies)
 The teacher always integrates values in each lesson she tackles for
them to learn positive behaviour.

REFLECT

REFLECTION AS A FUTURE TEACHER.

1. Why do you need to enforce positive discipline?


 As a future educator, we must instill positive
discipline in our students in order for them to learn
how to be responsible, respectful and resourceful
members of our community.
