Giving opinions
Many phrases are suitable in everyday speech and some types of writing, such as on blogs and personal
websites. You have probably already seen or used some of these phrases:
 I think…  I would say…
 I believe…  The way I see it is (that) …
 I feel…  From my point of view...
 In my opinion… and

For example, imagine you have your own food website.


Today you’re writing or talking about the world’s best street
food.

You might say:


In my opinion, Bangkok has the best street food.
Further
examples:

 Did you like the Rio Parade this year? I think it was the best I have ever seen
 Did you like the fireworks in Valparaíso for New year´s Eve this year? I would say, the show was OK.
 Did you like the opera? I really loved it! I think the soprano sang beautifully!
 What do you think about Lisa´s writing? In my opinion, she is an excellent writer. I believe she chooses
the words carefully so the audience can predict what will happen next

Agreeing & disagreeing


Agreeing is the easy part. To show agreement, you can use short, clear statements.
Let’s suppose a friend says, “I think summer is way more fun than winter!”
You might show you agree by giving one of these responses:

 So do I.  I agree. or
 Me too.  I couldn’t agree more.
 Definitely.

Agreeing Disagreeing
I totally agree with you. I don´t agree with you.
I couldn´t agree more. I´m afraid I disagree.
You are absolutely right. That´s not the way I see it.
I feel the same. I don´t feel the same.
Agree or disagree? Express your opinion.

1. Summer is the best season.

Quantifiers
Are words or phrases used with a noun to indicate quantity. They can be used with countable and uncountable
nouns.

Sort the nouns into countable and uncountable nouns.

Complete the questions using the quantifiers “much” or “many”. Much is used with uncountable nouns and
“many” is used with countable nouns.
Complete the answers to the questions with “a little” or “a few”. “A little” is used with uncountable nouns and
“a few” is used with countable nouns.

Write “much” or “many” questions and answers using “a little” or “ a few” for the following nouns: water,
tables, dogs, sugar.
