Fantastic Finland
Finland is in the far north of Europe. The capital city, Helsinki, is in the south
of Finland. Reykjavik in Iceland is the only capital city further north. Finland is
a very cold country because of where it is. In fact, it’s one of the coldest and
it has long winters. It’s a very beautiful country, with lots of forests. Finns love
to enjoy the beauty of their country.
Finland is next to Sweden and the Finns learn the Swedish language at
school. Finnish is not easy to understand for Swedish people. That’s because
Finnish and Swedish don’t come from the same family of languages. Most
Finns also learn English at school, so people from other countries can easily
talk with them.
Finns are friendly and they love to meet people. They like talking, but they
also like silence. Finns can sit with their friends without talking a lot. They are
also very happy people and enjoy their lives – the United Nations says they
are the happiest people in the world!
Are they happy because they are healthy? Maybe. Finns eat healthily, with
lots of fish in their diet. They also exercise and like to take long walks.
