Is the Global Warming Caused by Humans or Something Else?

Have you ever thought about global issues? Have you ever thought about the future of the
earth and the lives of future human beings on the earth? Have you ever thought about our role in
the global issues such as global warming? And how we can prevent such phenomena?

First of all, let me define the term global warming. The globe is getting warmer day by day.
Both land and oceans are warmer now and temperatures are still ticking upward. and it has been
said that it has been warmed by half a degree centigrade over the past 100 years. This rise in heat
is called global warming. (Wirth, 1989).

Global warming can not be done by itself, it is the result of human interference and human
activities. Scientists believe that many human activities such as producing a huge amount of
trash, cutting down the trees and jungles, using fuels like coal and oil can all help in making the
world warmer. Another important factor many believe that has a key role in increasing the
temperature is the greenhouse gasses. Greenhouse gases like Carbon Dioxide and methane make
the earth warmer. (Liu et al, 2008).

Human beings nowadays are producing a huge amount of trashes.30% of the world's food is
wasted which produces 8% of greenhouse gases. If food waste was a country, it was the third
country after the United States and China in terms of its impact on global warming. Due to
population growth, economic development and food consumption, waste production continues to
grow. We need to convert more than one billion hectares of forests and grasslands into
agricultural land, which will lead to the release of 84 billion tons of carbon dioxide into the
atmosphere (INSA, 2019)

Trees play a vital role in the balance of the ecosystem. Deforestation is the process of cutting
down trees to make room for pastures or industries and homes due to the ever-increasing human
population. One of the major disadvantages of deforestation is that it disrupts the water cycle.
Trees are responsible for evaporating water from the soil and releasing moisture into the
atmosphere. Deforestation disrupts the water cycle and makes the environment drier. Climate
change is a severe consequence of uncontrolled logging. Forests trap atmospheric carbon during
the process of photosynthesis. Trees contain a large fraction of atmospheric carbon. It increases
the amount of carbon and other greenhouse gases in the environment. Burning forests releases
large amounts of carbon dioxide into the air. Carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases such as
nitrogen oxides and methane are known to trap atmospheric heat, thus increasing the average
temperature of the earth's surface (ISNA, 2019)

Greenhouse gases is known as a key factor in making global warming. Greenhouse gases
like Carbon Dioxide and methane make the earth warmer. These gases make the earth warm by
trapping the heat in the atmosphere. They do so by absorbing energy and slowing the rate at
which the energy escapes to space; they act like a blanket insulating the Earth (Montzka et al,
2011). Greenhouse gases which are nearly transparent to solar radiation but strongly absorb the
infra-red radiation emitted by the Earth. This results in a warming of the Earth by about 30°C
and makes it habitable. Since industrialization, human activities have resulted in steadily
increasing concentrations of the greenhouse gases—carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide and
chlorofluorocarbons—in the atmosphere, and as a result leads to global warming. (Batta, 2020)

So it goes without saying that global warming is the result of human activity. Global
warming can bring about changes in climate. But why should we concern about global warming?
What happened if the world become warmer? Global warming can result in changes of rainfall
patterns, a rise of sea level, and different effects on plants, animals and humans including an
increase number of death among animals and humans. Climate change threatens the essential
ingredients of excellent health - clean air, safe beverage, nutritious food supply, and safe shelter.
Between 2030 and 2050, global climate change is predicted to cause approximately 250 000
additional deaths per annum, from malnutrition, malaria, diarrhoea and warmth stress alone. The
direct damage costs to health is estimated to be between USD 2-4 billion per annum by 2030.
(Thomas, 2020).

finally , we can see that global warming is the direct result of human interference and activity
for its own welfare. But it is not late yet we can prevent it by changing our life style. The earth is
a place for the future human and also our children, so let's be more careful about it. We can start
campaigns to encourage people in reducing the amount of trashes they produce, using less
plastics, using public transportation not one car for per member of the family, using bicycles,
planting trees, save the electricity, recycling cans, bottles, paper, plastic, etc.

The government can also suggest something to encourage people in changing the old cars
that produces too many pollution and use a larger amount of fuel. For example, a plan for
changing old cars with new ones and paying less or paying in 10 or 20 months. The government
can also encourage people in using solar energy providing them the facilities because the solar
energy facilities is expensive for people. Of course many things can be done, it just need
cooperating, thinking, studying, patience, and of course the government help.
