Reflection Number 3

Disability has an ability

‘Disability is a matter of perception. you can do just one thing well you're needed
by someone’ - Martina Navratilova. Yes, indeed, having a disability, it does not
really matter whether a person has a disability, it makes no difference whether or
not the individual actually has the disability. ‘Disability is a matter of perception’
This phrase always marks in my head, because our sir said earlier, it depends on
people how they perceived people, we can’t judge those people having a difficulty
because having that life isn’t easy. There are many perceptions concerning
impaired people, most of which are negative. Some of these perceptions include,
evil spirits possessing people with disability, them facing prejudice, and being
shameful to associate with the disabled and the most common one that they are
not as productive as others. According to my research it shows that the largest
number of people, about 80 percent, perceive those with a disability as
unproductive and a burden to society, I can’t imagine 80% percent? Really, as I
perceive them, they are very talented and gifted, I have a neighbor who disabled
person that he has a gift, he is very talented in art, he knows how to draw life
nature or portraits painting. We are very closed but I idolize him a lot. The
unproductivity perception has caused a lot of discrimination, ridicule, isolation
and rejection to the disabled. Impaired people are not unproductive as many tend
to believe. In fact, those with a disability can do some things that the others
cannot. A good example is Franklin Roosevelt who had polio and ended up being
the governor of New York and then was elected to be the president of the United
States. it is quite clear that the disabled people can do more than what most
people expect from them and they do not deserve any kind of discrimination due
to their conditions. According to my research Most countries have also discovered
the great potential in disabled people and are trying all they can to support them,
which is good thing to know.

DISABILITIES AND ABILTIES AND THEORIES

I have learned about this lesson because It gives me more knowledge

about disabilities and abilities especially the definition itself, it relates about
the discussion last weak that I created a reflection, Like I stated that
disability it doesn’t mean that they are disable it depends on person on
how they perceived it. I have how my teacher sir Alejandro give us a
chance to express in oral so that we can express our perception on
disabled person, as sir said that they are disabled because of difficulties
but because people perceive them as disable, it always bear in my mind
and it connects what Einstein quote ” Everybody is a genius, But if you
judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing
that it is stupid.” Indeed, because everyone of us has unique ability and
skill, we can’t them because we don’t know behind their talents and
abilities, as most people said The English idiom "don't judge a book by its
cover" is a metaphorical phrase that means one should not judge the worth
or value of something by its outward appearance alone. Even animals like
literal fish has his own ability even they have no rational thinking but God
give that Ability to do such thing, they have ability protect themselves, they
have ability to reproduce and etc. The animals that would not submit to
such training, but persisted in developing the best gifts they had, were
dishonored, called narrow-minded and specialists, and special difficulties
were placed in their way when they attempted to ignore the theory of
education recognized by the school (Animal-Disabled person). In today’s
time different is not accepted, people that are different are discriminated,
looked down upon and usually picked on. People with disabilities are seen
as different creatures by most people, the disabled don’t choose to be the
way they are, but still our society alienates them.

“PSYCHOLOGICAL THEORIES”

Psychology is the scientific study of how people behave, think and feel.
Psychologists study everything about the human experience from the basic
workings of the human brain to consciousness, memory, reasoning and language
to personality and mental health.

In this lesson, as my Sir Alejandro presented this earlier my knowledge refresh

about the theories, though this psychological theory is very familiar to me
because as a future educator we should to study their theories because their
theory is very helpful, should learn on how to approach the different kind of
students, because of their theories we learn on how we deal and accommodate
those students especially the students having difficulty in learning. I really
appreciate their works because without their efforts to study, researching and
experimenting the foundation of education is nothing or none-sense, I can’t
imagine without them or without their theory and study how we will approach
the students? Especially the stubborn naughty or the disable students? It’s hard
right. That’s why I must to advice the coming future educator that they should not
neglect their theories but instead to cultivate it or to improve it, or make a study
and research so that we foster and preserve their theories because they make
effort on it, we must to value it.

As my conclusion I do believe that their theory plays an important role in

determining the nature of educational research and practice in teacher education.
It is, therefore, necessary to acknowledge the importance of theory in educational
research and practice in teacher education, an also ascertain the influence that
theory has on educational research and practice in teacher education.

Reflection Number 6.

In this lesson, I was late to attend because the slow of internet connection
though I tried to listen but the voice of my instructor is very choppy. But I
read the modules that he gave and I learned something about SPED
program. I was very appreciated those programs who support the SPED
education Especially there are law that support about this program. Sir said
that when we become a SPED teacher it’s an easy job to accommodate
those students who have behavioral issues, which is I strongly agree
especially the who have a symptom of down-syndrome and ADHD that’s
why there’s some controversy and dispute students who has disability
because most people said that they unproductive, but for me they
productive because they live in purpose. The module that I read and listen
was reflected to me because before I live with have learning disability my
development about cognitive was not fully developed especially in critical
thinking or they so-called metacognition which I do believe because I could
understand what I read and the words that I read is dancing in my brain
and I can’t focus my teacher always hates me and I was enroll in grade 1
three times, I don’t know if it’s the symptoms of dyslexia because until
know there’s some words that I couldn’t read and focus very well,
especially in spelling I could spell well but things to google and word-office
that there is auto-spell. I tried to overcome this and train myself so that I
can conquer those disabilities within my own. I do believe that I can do
this because there some actor in USA who has learning disabilities like the
actor of Harry potter the protagonist, I forget his name but I inspired so
much about him. Someday when I have opportunity to teach in SPED I do
my best to achieve their live with full of Happiness and conquer those
negativities.
