35.-37.) What are three Different types of Pavement Design Construction in our Country?
55.-70.) What’s the ultimate purpose of a gravel bed in the design of Railway track? (15pts.)
The rails and perpendicular beams are placed on a foundation made of concrete or compressed
earth and gravel in a bed of ballast. Track ballast is the collective term for the crushed stones on
railway tracks. They form the trackbed and are packed around railway tracks. They form the ground for
the railway sleepers which are used to keep the railway tracks upright and properly spaced.
In my opinion sand cone method is known to be the most appropriate FDT as it can be used in
different types of soils and the results obtained are also much more appropriate. It is also cost-
effective alternative to nuclear gauge testing.
86-100.) In the course of Planning Transportation Project, what are those important and major
features to be considered? (15pts.)
The first step of any evaluation of planning transportation project is developing project
alternatives. There are no specific guidelines on what and how alternatives should be
developed. This part depends strongly on the transportation problem, existing infrastructure,
and public and decision-makers’ preferences.
The second step is to select evaluation criteria. These criteria should be adequate to the
evaluated alternatives and of course should include all aspects important to the decision-making
body as well as to the community.
The third step is to evaluate alternatives using the developed criteria. This is the stage where
demand and traffic flows are predicted and travel quality estimated. In addition, economic and
environmental impacts are quantified.
