b) Find the range of values of 𝑝 for which the roots of the equation 𝑝𝑥 2 + 𝑝𝑥 − 2 = 0 are real.
c) Use algebra to solve (𝑥 − 1)(𝑥 + 2) = 18.

(d) relate this value of the discriminant with your sketch.
