DIET CHART (SUGAR PATIENTS)

TOTAL KCAL-1200
PROTEIN-37 GRAM

Regular physical Exercise, long walk, pranayam and yoga,is needed. Regular exercise helps to improve
blood glucose and lipid levels. It is more important to restrict your diet. Equal spacing of meal is very
important for sugar patients, Free foods should be taken in between three main meals. Achieve and
maintain desirable body weight.
DON’T TAKE :- 1) Sweet like Laddu, Burfi, Payasam, Desserts, Chocolate and Ice creametc.
2) Sugar, Honey, Glucose, Jam etc
3) Fried Food items and foods cooked in too much oil like Poori, Chips, Papad,
Samosa, Vada Etc.
4) Bakery products like Caked, Pastries and Cream Biscuts.
5) Fats like Dalda, Ghee, Butter and Coconut Oil.
6) Root Vegetables (vegetables which is grown under soil) like Potato, Yam,
Colocasia, Tapiocaand Sweet potato, Carrot, Beat
7) High Calorie fruits like Banana, Pamegranate, Mango, Grapes, Custard Apple
and Jack fruit.
8) Dried fruits like Dates, Raisim, Currants and Nuts like Cashewnuts, Coconuts,
Ground nuts Etc.
9) Proprietory drinks like Horlicks, Boost, Bournvita, Complan etc.
10) Muttan, Fast Food (Egg Roll, Moglai, Chow)

You can take:- 1) You will drink always 4/5 liter water every day.
2) You will always walk 10 minutes after your lunch and dinner.
3) A combination of cooking oil preferably Sunflower Oil, Safflower Oil, Mustard
Oil, Sesame Oil, Olive Oil, Rice bran oil, or Soyabin oil, in advisable allowance
perday- 4 to 5 tsp.
4) Non- Vegetarian items like Fish or Chicken can be taken four times a week
without frying.
5) Egg which can be taken frequently but whole eggs should be restricted two
per week.
6) Lemon, Orange, Papaya.
7) Green leafy vegetables like Spinach, Lettuce, Cabbage.
8) Salad and boiled Vegetables.

MORNING

EARLY MORNING:- (6.15-6.30)

1) One cup of warm water with lemon (No sugar to be added)


2) Tea (7.15- 7.30am) 1 cup (No Sugar, 25-30ml cow milk)

BREAK FAST:- (8.15AM- 8.45AM)

1) Two piece stuff Roti, - made with lemon size ball of atta- (no oil/no ghee/no potato)
One boul of curry (without potato)- Brinjal Curry, Ladies finger curry, Pear Ground, Peas etc.
1 cup Milk/ Curd – 100ml (cow milk/ toned milk)
OR
2) 2 piece Roti, One boul of Salad, 1 cup Milk- 100ml
3) Idli Sambhar (2) (v) Dosa – Sambhar (Small Size)

Mid Morning:- (11.00am- 11.15am)

1) Juice like tomato juice/ lime juice (no sugar to be added) 1 glass
OR
2) One boul of Papaya.

AFTER NOON

LUNCH: (1.00PM- 1.15PM)

1) 1 Roti (small) ,1 cup Rice, Dal (mixed with lemon), One boul of Curry (avoid only potatoes in
vegetables), Salad, Veg Raita, 1 medium size Fish.

OR
2) 1 Roti (small), 1 cup Rice, Egg Curry (1 medium size, without yolk), Salad, One boul of Curd.

OR
3) One boul of Daliya (plain), Subzi( avoid only potatoes in vegetables), Salad, Raita (veg)
OR
4) 1 Roti(small), 1 cup Rice, Chicken (one medium size), Salad, One boul of Curd.

MID AFTER NOON:- (5.00PM- 6.30PM)

1) 1 CUP Tea/ Coffee- (no sugar, 25-30ml cow milk), Two Biscut (sugar free)
MID EVENING:- (6.30PM- 7.30PM)

1 Fruit (avoid Banana/ Chickoo/ Grapes/Mango/Custard Apple)

NIGHT

DINNER:- (9.00pm-9.30pm)

2 Roti, Subzi(avoid only Potatoes in vegetables), Salad, Veg Raita.

BED TIME:- (10.30PM- 11.00PM)
