LESSON PLAN IN SCIENCE II

THE 4 A’S FORMAT

At the end of the lesson the learners are able to:
I- OBJECTIVES:

A. LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

a. To differentiate between potential and kinetic energy.

b. To describe energy and its kind.
c. To describe what causes potential energy to change into kinetic energy and vice
versa.

II- SUBJECT MATTER: Energy

REFERENCE: Scott Foresman Science,pg.42-45

MATERIALS: Board markers, Activity Worksheet, Colored pencils, Notebooks or lined

paper Index cards (one per student), Pencils

III- PROCEDURE:

A. PRELIMINARY ACTIVITIES:
1. PRAYER
2. GREETING
3. ENERGIZER

B. DEVELOPMENTAL ACTIVITIES:

A. Warm Up Activity:

1. Place a disposable cup and balloon on the floor

2. Ask a student blow the balloons and will use to blow off the disposable cups
3. What is the motion of the cups at first?
4. What happen to the cups after blown by an inflated balloon?

B. Let the students watch a video of Energy. And discussed to them what is Potential and
kinetic energy.
C. – On the video presented ask students what is Potential and kinetic energy? Site some
example of potential and kenetic energy.

D. ACTIVITY:

 Pass out one index card to each student. Each card should have a different
action on it.
 Tell each student to keep their action a secret from their classmates. One by
one, have
 -students act out the action on their card, as a game of charades.
 Ask other students to guess the action. The person who guesses correctly must
say whether the action used kinetic or potential energy.

E. ANALYSIS:

Ask your students to think about their after-school routine.

Tell them to list five actions they take between the end of school and bedtime.

do you think you used potential or kinetic in each action.

F. ABSTRACTION: Guide the students to answer the activity.

1. Give your students a bond paper and to draw the following actions they do every day.

Ask your students to write the energy used in these actions next to the picture.

G. APPLICATION: Let the pupils do the activity.

Look at the pictures below, and label them potential or kinetic based on what type of energy
they are showing.
1. _____________________ 2. _______________________ 3. ____________________

4.______________________ 5. _______________________

H. GENERALIZATION:

- Energy is the capacity to do work.

- Potential Energy stored energy

- Kinetic Energy moving energy.

I. EVALUATION: Connect the two pictures that shown potential energy to

kenetic energy.
POTENTIAL ENERGY KENETIC ENERGY

J. ASSIGNMENT:

List three other forms of energy. Describe how each one affects motion.
