1. INTRODUCTION
This specification covers the site designing requirement parameters and ambient condition for
ZANJAN Urea Fertilizer Plant in Zanjan, Iran.
Details of this specification have been extracted from the CONTRACT and in case of any
discrepancy, the CONTRACT will govern.

2. GENERAL
The following ambient conditions shall apply to the ZANJAN Urea Fertilizer Plant located at Zanjan,
Iran.
This document covers general information regarding site and climatic conditions.

3. SITE INFORMATION
3.1. SITE CONDITIONS
3.1.1. Location
The subject plant is located at Zanjan, Iran.

3.1.2. Geographical and Battery Limits Coordinates

The plant shall be located between the specified coordinates indicated in Overall Plot Plan,
DWG No. 1231-BE-00-PI-PPL-001-00.

Note: The BATTERY LIMITS of the PLANT is the boundaries of the lands which actually shall be
used for the PLANT.

3.1.3. Soil
Preliminary geotechnical and soil investigation data and information are given as below:
Frost line based on : -120 cm from ground level

3.1.4. Elevation
01 Elevation of Ammonia and Urea plants : +1846 meter above sea-level

3.1.5. Bench Marks

Sufficient number of benchmarks shall be provided at the selected site.

3.2. CLIMATIC CONDITIONS / METEOROLOGICAL DATA

3.2.1. Temperature
a) Maximum recorded temperature: 45°C
b) Minimum recorded temperature: -30°C
c) Design Winterizing temperature: -30°C
d) Max. Wet bulb temperature (summer): 22°C
e) Max. Dry bulb temperature (summer): 40°C
f) Temperature for design of fluidized bed final cooler, fans and compressors 34°C @ 40% R.H.
g) Max. Temperature for mechanical civil and structural design: 70°C
h) Max. Temperature for equipment Exposed to sunlight (design): 80°C
i) Design temperature for electrical Equipment Max. outdoor/indoor: 48°C/40°C
j) Minimum design metal temperature (MDMT): -28°C
k) Soil temperature for cable selection: 25°C

3.2.2. Ambient Air Relative Humidity

Maximum: 80%
Minimum: 21%
Average: 63%
Design relative humidity:
- Summer 43%
- Winter 71%
- Electrical equipment 71%
- For process air compressor, fan and air cooler 40% @ 40°C

3.2.3. Barometric Pressure

The barometric pressure at site varies between 805 up to 825 mbara. Average barometric pressure
that used for Design is 820 mbara.

3.2.4. Wind
a) Shape Factor

Refer to Building standards as per contractual codes and standards.

Note: Wind design criteria to be based on the latest edition of UBC.

b) Design wind speed

Maximum wind velocity (up to 10 m elevation):

-Structure calculation : 125 km/h

01 c) Prevailing wind direction: from NW to SE. For mechanical and civil design purpose shall be
considered from all directions.

3.2.5. Rainfall & Snow Precipitation

a) Rainfall values
- Maximum rainfall in 1 hour : 40 mm
01 - Rainfall value for sewer design : 110 L/s/hectare equivalent to 39.6
mm/m2h
b) Design Snow Load : 175 kg/m2

3.2.6. Earthquake (Seismic Factor)

Earthquake shall be considered for ZONE 3 as per UBC (Uniform Building code, latest Edition).

3.2.7. Design Data For Air Conditioning

01 The following data shall be considered for design of air-conditioned areas:
01 Design outdoor temperature (Max/Min) : 38/-18°C
a) Summer
i) Indoor required temperature : 24° C ± 2°C
ii) Indoor Relative humidity : 50% ± 5%
b) Winter
i) Indoor required temperature : 22°C ±1°C
ii) Indoor Relative humidity : 45% ±5%

3.2.8. Other Data

a) Frost line based on : -120 cm from ground level.
b) Sea breeze : None.
c) Thunder and lightning : to be considered.
d) Sandstorm : to be considered.
e) Transportation limit for Iranian Equipment : Provisional and national roads
capacity.
i) Max. weight : up to 96 tons
ii) Max. load per axle : 12 tons
iii) Max. height : 5.2 m
iv) Max. width : 5m
v) Max. length : 50 m
Note: For Equipment with dimensions and weights higher than the road capacity specified above,
that required to be split into pieces, owner should inform on which special permissions can be
obtained.
f) Pollution
i) Surface and underground fresh water pollution shall be avoided.
ii) Any undue air pollution due to proximity of Site to a major city shall be avoided.
