DAY 1 Work Immersion Journal
February twelve of two thousand and eighteen was a brand new day to freshly start our first
day of our work immersion. It all started in a cold and shivery morning. The sun is about to
radiate out of its shelter and chirps of the crickets are all gone.
We begin our travel with a prayer and up until we reach to our destination. Worry, anxiety and
nervousity enveloped us while we're still inside the jeepney. Various emotions mixed with pure
Upon the arrival at the lobby of the hospital, we were approached by the HR staff and was
brought to the conference room for a brief orientation. We have discussed the institution's
tagline and how were it related to the mission and vision of the hospital. We were also asked to
answer few questions given by the staff and some chosen person was requested to answer.
Later while, we tour around the vicinity and was introduced to the different departments. From
the pharmacy to three different nurse station and down to the laboratory.
After few rounds, we were distributed to each of the departments. Luckily, I was assigned to

patient's room, and assisting doctors during rounds are just some of the work of the nurses
which I've got to really observed on our first day of our work immersion.

our greatest challenge to have encountered different people with different attitude and
personality. We find it awkward to casually open a topic considering the fact that its just our
first time working in that kind of people. We were bothered and anxious at the same time. But
few hours after, we coped up by bravely initiating a short conversation to the staffs. We slowly
our work supervisors especially when asked for a small favor. One of our work supervisors
brought us to see feeding patients eat through a Nasogastric tube (NGT). They also told us
many layman terms in which we really noted it in our notebooks for future purposes and uses.
Our first day of our work immersion was indeed tiring yet absolutely fun. New learnings and
new knowledge. After all, Nurse Marie Louie P. Narte, a staff nurse of PS1 leave us a short
