Joon Lee has taught a variety of students in the EFL and ESL
community ranging from kindergarten to university students and
business professionals. He has held positions as an Academic Director,
Content and Curriculum Developer, and Academic Advisor in his nearly
20 years of experience in Asia. He holds great respect for educators JOON
and administrators who show passion towards nurturing a learner’s
path to success.
LEE
Elna Coetzer, originally from South Africa, works as a teacher trainer and
educational consultant with the International Training Institute in Istanbul
and Oxford University Press among other organisations.

She has worked as a teacher and director of studies teaching all levels,
doing in-house teacher development, and developing ESP courses. Her
training skills were honed at CUP as an educational consultant and teacher
trainer. She is an accredited CELTA, DELTA and CELT-P/S tutor, works as an
Oxford Teachers’ Academy trainer, and is also an online moderator. She
is an experienced online teacher and trainer who enjoys taking on the
challenges of online education and has published some articles in the IH
Online Journal.

Her interests range from working with critical thinking, developing


motivation and a growth mindset, to using stories to lower the affective ELNA
filter and incorporating creative activities to make learning more engaging. COETZER
Literacy and reading development, developing effective talk in learners,
and supporting professional development in educators, are some of the
subjects that she is passionate about. Most recently the issues surrounding
online teaching and coaching have been uppermost in her mind.

Elna is based in Turkey but has also worked in 15 countries training


educators. She is a qualified NLP Master Practitioner and life coach and is
interested in psychology. She is a storyteller and a coffee drinker and loves
a good detective novel – the darker the better!
I am an English Language Teacher and Teacher Trainer well into my third
decade in the profession. I Andrew Bosson, I am an English Language
Teacher and Teacher Trainer well into my third decade in the profession. I
have occupied various roles in this time, including several years managing
both a Teacher Education and an ESOL department in an Adult Education
College in England. Following my time in management I moved back to
Turkey in. My MA is in TESOL and Educational Technologies.

I teach English at Sabancı University School of Languages and also am


involved in the department’s professional development activities as part of
the team conducting developmental observations and am a tutor on the
School of Languages Teacher Education Program (SLTEP). I have also co-
edited a book on Teacher Development with my colleague Deniz Kurtoğlu-
Eken. ANDREW
I have a blog Begins with a Problem that currently focuses on promoting BOSSON
Project Based Learning in ELT as well as suggesting a principled approach
to the use of technology in ELT. Recently my blog has been referenced
in Oxford University Press’ Expert Focus on Project Based Learning. My
colleague İsmail Arıcı and I have also contributed a chapter to a book on
“Teaching in the Post COVID-19 Era”, soon to be published by Springer.
Our chapter looks at “PBL as a Model for the Normalised Use of Digital
Technologies: Facilitating, Practical, Meaningful, Learner-Centred Online
Teaching and Learning”.
Nick Manthei is an OUP teacher trainer based in Turkey. He has eleven
years of classroom experience – the majority of that spent in primary
and middle schools. He has taught in South Korea and Turkey and
given training to teachers in many parts of the globe. His trainings
tend to be hands-on and provides ideas you can use the very next day NICK

Philip Haines is originally from England but has been living in Mexico
since 1995, where he works as the Professional Development
Consultant for Oxford University Press. He has delivered sessions
throughout the Americas, at IATEFL, in Indonesia and Vietnam, and
countless online events. Philip is the author/co-author of several ELT PHILIP
series published in Mexico at primary, secondary and adult levels. HAINES
Erika Osváth, MEd in Maths, DTEFLA, is a freelance teacher, teacher
trainer, materials writer and co-author with Edmund Dudley of Mixed
Ability Teaching (Into the Classroom series, OUP). Before becoming a
freelance trainer in 2009, she worked for International House schools
for 16 years in Eastern and Central Europe, where she worked as a
YL co-ordinator, trainer on CELTA, LCCI,1-1, Business English, YL and
VYL courses, and Director of Studies. She has extensive experience in ERIKA
teaching very young learners, young learners and teenagers. Her main
interests lie in these areas as well as helping teachers to bring out the

best of both themselves as well as of their learners in both face-to-face
and online teaching.
Christopher Sheen is a full-time Teacher Trainer and Professional
Development Coordinator with Oxford University Press, based in
Istanbul. For nearly twenty five years he has engaged all types of learner
profiles in the ELT field, in North America, Asia, Europe, Africa, and
since 2014 in Turkey. Before joining OUP Turkey he was the lead trainer
in the corporate sales division of Japan’s largest language company as
well as being a full-time English instructor in several departments in the
largest university in western Japan. He has a keen interest in classroom
dynamics, student ownership of the learning process, and in particular
innovative Continuing Professional Development programs that are CHRISTOPHER
customizable for both teachers and institutions alike. SHEEN
In addition to his own continuing education in ELT, he believes perhaps
his strongest asset as a trainer is the hundreds of hours he has spent in
coaching programs and workshops working directly with thousands of
teachers from all over the world.
Nick Michelioudakis (B. Econ., Dip. RSA, MSc [TEFL]) has been active
in ELT for many years as a teacher, examiner, presenter and teacher
trainer. He has worked for a number of publishers and examination
boards and he has given seminars and workshops in many countries.
He has written extensively on Methodology, though he is better
known for his ‘Psychology and ELT’ articles which have appeared in
numerous newsletters and magazines. NICK
His areas of interest include Psychology, Student Motivation, Learner
