I personally think that innovation must be encouraged to every single member of the
team, I mean, people need to understand that think outside the box, generate success.
Independently if the person fails, or the idea never progress, experimentation and risk-
taking are success from the very beginning as human beings.
By creating a strong organizational culture, you devolve power down to every employee
to innovate.
Teams also need to create a real sense of psychological safety where open and honest
communication can prevail.
One of the most powerful tools for promoting employee creativity and innovation is
recognition. People want to be recognized and rewarded for their ideas and initiatives,
and it is a practice that can have tremendous payoff for the organization
Innovation in the Workplace Some managers use team-building games to encourage
creativity, collaboration, and communication. Others experiment with workflows and
flexible summer schedules like the 9/80 model. Consider opening up certain decisions to
the group, including events, workflows, and even office layouts

Part B – Practical – Develop innovation

This part requires you to establish work practices that support innovation. In order to
accomplish this, you must provide examples of conditions, procedures and arrangements
that you would create in the Bounce Fitness Centre Cairns that encourage innovation in the

One of the most notorious evidences, was the increase of subscription of new members.
This is due to the staff that works motivated and happy, after the innovations made
months ago. Team building, this is the process of turning individuals within a group into a
team. Essentially it involves the establishment of a team. A team is people working
together towards a common goal. In innovation management if you can get individuals to
work together, you are able to facilitate innovation at a faster pace than trying to get
separate
individuals working towards the goal
 Family-friendly leave entitlements
 Flexible working hours
 Social leave
 Study leave
 Time provided for coming up with ideas

establish itself as a premier provider of fitness and wellness in Australia.

 write down how the change would increase innovation at Bounce Fitness.
(Approx. 200 words)

Bounce Fitness is made up of four fitness centres. Head offi ce is currently established in
Cairns, Queensland. Each centre has a Manager, who reports to the CEO in Cairns, and a
team of permanently employed fitness instructors and other casual instructors, all of
whom report to the Centre Manager
Collaborative work arrangements are a useful way to innovate. There are several
ways to consider: a Vertical Team is one where the leader of the team (usually the
manager) is responsible for setti ng the direction, priorities and the goals for the team;
Working with Supplier Organisations or Partner Organisations; On a Horizontal Team, the
team leader is still responsible for setti ng the direction of the team
Based on these individual priorities, each team member identifies the degree of
impact on, or involvement for, their teammates and their functions.

the physical working environment

at least 2 of your friends, family, local club members, workmates, and so on.

presenting.

Part E – Practical: Provide learning opportunities

This part requires you to look at how learning opportunities can be used for increasing
overall innovation.
In order to do this, you must provide a written report on the outcomes of Part D. This
report must

8|Page
 Outline any information that you have shared with others, with a discussion of how
this improved overall innovation.

 Discuss formal and informal learning opportunities that could be put in place in
Bounce Fitness, that help or would help develop skills for innovation (as well as any
further ideas that you would like to introduce).

 Discuss how you will create opportunities in which individuals can learn from the
experience of others.
(Approx. 200 words)

Provide or encourage formal and informal learning opportunities to help develop the
skills needed for innovation. Another approach to the challenges of change and
innovation is to promote ‘learning’ as an underpinning value in the organization. Before a
Learning Organisation can be implemented, a solid foundation can be made by taking into
account the points on the table below. What is Needed to Create a Learning Organisation:
The focus of control shifts from managers to workers. This is where the term
Empowerment is introduced. The workers become responsible for their actions; but the
managers do not lose their involvement.

Create Opportunities in which Individuals can Learn from the Experience of Others
Managers and supervisors have their own styles, but they can always learn from
formal training and from others such skills as team development, group problem
solving techniques and communications

Mentoring and coaching are really an extension of training. Mentoring is where a

more experienced and more senior member of the organisation acts as a sounding
board, providing vital insights and suggestions and feedback on how to survive in an
organisation. Rather like taking someone ‘under their wing

The trained managers, supervisors and other staff need to then place an emphasis
on improving interpersonal relationships, with particular emphasis on identifying, and
where practicable, meeting people’s needs
