largest manufacturer of automotive and industrial lead-acid batteries in India and
fourth largest in the world
incorporated as Associated Battery Makers (Eastern) Ltd., on 31 January 1953 under
the Companies Act, 1913 
The company was changed to Exide Industries Ltd. on 25 August 1995.
