The key takeaways are that renewable resources can replenish naturally within a human lifetime while nonrenewable resources form over long periods of geological time and are being depleted.

Renewable resources can replenish naturally within a human lifetime, such as through biological growth or regeneration, while nonrenewable resources form over long periods of geological time and are being depleted.

Some examples of renewable resources are trees, water, sunlight and wind. Some examples of nonrenewable resources are coal, oil and natural gas.

Detailed Lesson Plan 1

A Detailed Lesson Plan in Science 7

I. Objectives

At the end of the lesson the students should be able to:

a. identify correctly renewable and nonrenewable resources;

b. explain thoroughly the difference of renewable and nonrenewable
resources; and,
c. understand coherently the advantage and disadvantages of using
renewable and nonrenewable resources.

II. Subject Matter

Topic: Renewable and nonrenewable resources

Time duration: Date: 1 hour and 30 minutes/ April 19, 2021

III. Procedure
Teacher’s Activity Student’s Activity

May we all stand for the prayer. Who can (A student leads the prayer)
lead the prayer?

Good morning class! Good morning Ma’am!

You may now take your seat. Thank you, ma’am.

Let me check the attendance first. Make (check attendance using a seat plan)
sure that you are in your proper seats so
that you will not be marked absent

A. Review
Class can you give a short review about (A Student raises her hand)
our topic last meeting?

Yes Ms. Anne.

Ma’am last meeting we talk about global

warming.

Very good. So, what is global warming?

Global warming is the long-term heating
of Earth’s climate system observed since
the pre- industrial due to human
activities, primarily fossil burning, which
increases heat trapping greenhouse gas
levels in Earth’s atmosphere.

Very good you may take your seat. Thank you, Ma’am,
B. Motivation

To start our new lesson, I will be showing

you a video of the beauty and splendor of
the Philippines.
(Students watch the video)
And now, just sit back, relax and let me
take you to a tour around the Philippine
Archipelago. (show video presentation
about the physical features and varied
life forms in the Philippines)

C. Lesson Proper

What are the things you have observed We were able to explore the different
in the video? natural resources found in the Philippine
archipelago.

Yes! Exactly. Our country is bountiful in

natural resources starting from varied
physical features down to the diverse
plant and animal forms.

Resources are the things that are

Talking about how lucky we are in the available around us which we use for
Philippines to have such things, what different purposes.
can you associate with the word
“resources”?

Good. How about another idea? Resources are things that can be used to
support, help, or drawn on when needed.

Exactly.

Based on your answers, we can define

resources as things used by people in
order to survive or to satisfy needs, Yes Ma’am
right?

Anybody who wants to give examples of

resources?
(student answer varies)
e.g., air, water, plants, animals, soil,
rocks, minerals, crude oil, and other
fossil fuels, sunlight, wind, car, house,
clothes, jewelry, money, etc.

Very Good!

Resources are classified into renewable

and non-renewable. Are you familiar
with these words? Yes Ma’am!

Ok. So, what is renewable resources?

(Student raises his hand)

Yes Mr. George Renewable resources are one that can be

used repeatedly and does not run out
because it is naturally replaced.

Exactly! A renewable resource,

essentially has an endless supply.

Can you give examples of renewable Alcohol, methane, geothermal energy,

resources? trees, water, food crops etc.

Very good Mr. George you may take your

seat.

Renewable resources afford us the

opportunity to be self-sustaining through
our own efforts. For example, Mr. George
mention a while ago that trees are
renewable resource. They can be
harvested and planted by us or they can
naturally reproduce as they drop
seedlings and germinate on their own.
Did you get it? Yes Ma’am!

Ok what about non-renewable

resources? What are these? (A student raises her hand)

Yes Ms. Rena  a natural substance that is not

replenished with the speed at which it is
consumed

Can you give examples? The main examples of non-renewable

resources are fuels such as oil, coal, and
natural gas, which humans regularly
draw to produce energy.

Very good. Please be seated Thank you, Ma’am.

Nonrenewable resources are resources

that have a limited supply.

Any questions class? None Ma’am!

Very good.

Now that you understand our lesson, I

want you to go to your respective groups
at the count of 5.

(teacher starts to count)

1,2,3,4,5
(students went to their respective groups)
(Separates school board with a line using
a chalk)

As you can see on the board renewable

title is written on the right and
nonrenewable title on the left. All you
have to do is to write on the board the
advantages and disadvantages of (students writing the instructions while
renewable and nonrenewable resources. listening)
Renewable resources will be group 1
then nonrenewable resources for group
2. Remember that all members should
write on the board.
Did you understand?
Yes Ma’am!

Your 10 minutes starts now!

(students starts to collaborate and write

their ideas on the board)

Time is up now! You may go back to your

seats. Ok Ma’am

Class, each of the member should

explain the sentences that you
wrote under the advantage and
disadvantages let’s start with
group 1. (the group discuss their answers in front
of the class.

D. Generalization

In a one whole sheet of paper discuss

what did you learn about our topic
today. You will be given 10 minutes you
may start now.
(students starts the activity)

IV. Evaluation
Instructions: Explain the differences and similarities between
renewable and nonrenewable.

Renewable Nonrenewable

V. Assignment

Make a slogan showing how to protect and conserve our natural

resources. Put it in a cartolina of any color. Design your slogan
artistically and make it presentable to the class.
