Notes for Branch Reinforcement:

1. This table gives the minimum requirements for 90 deg. Branch connections in sizes shown.
2. For lateral branch connections between 45 deg., 90 deg., stub-in connections and the need for reinforcement shall
be calculated per ASME B31.1.
3. This table covers the reinforcement requirements of a branch connection subject only to pressure. Special
consideration shall be given to the design of a branch connection subjected to external loads due to expansion or
contraction, dead loads, or live loads.
4. 100 percent reinforcement shall be provided where reinforcing pad is required per ASME B31.1 latest edition.
5. Reinforcement pads for branch connections shall be attached with full penetration welds in accordance with ASME
B31.1.
6. Use same material as the header pipe for the reinforcement pad unless otherwise specified. Verify reinforcement
pad thickness, Per ASME B 31.1 Latest edition.
