    Vocabulary 1: Choose the correct options to complete the text.
    I play the (1) trumpet / orchestra / performance in a brass band. We play (2)
    venue / flute / jazz music mostly – that’s our favourite type. It’s just a hobby for
    us, though – we don’t take it too seriously. The biggest venue we ever
    performed at was the local pub in Holstebro (the Danish town we’re all from).
    It’s quite hard to play in front of a local (3) venue / audience / performance ,
    though – especially when everyone in the pub knows you … You feel the
    pressure to perform well. Music’s a big part of my life in general outside of the
    band too. Both my wife and I are (4) conductor / venue / opera lovers. We saw
    an amazing performance of Fidelio once at the Lincoln Center in New York. The
    singing was beautiful and so too was the music of the members of the (5)
    orchestra / audience / trumpet . It was a night we’ll never forget.

    That said, we took the kids with us and I think, for them, it was a night they

    days, isn’t it? I mean, I love both my daughters a lot, but as for their taste in
