BARCELONA, SPAIN
On June 15, 1882 - Rizal arrived and stayed at Barcelona
Spain for 3months.
On August 20, 1882 - Rizal's "Amor Patrio" was published.
MADRID, SPAIN
September 2, 1882 - Rizal enrolled at the Unibersidad
Central de Madrid.
FRANCE
June 20, 1883 - Visited Lariboisiere Hospital and observed
the different diseases of women.

MADRID, SPAIN
September 28, 1883 - Enrolled back in the Unibersidad
Central De Madrid.
In March 1883, he joined the Masonic lodge called Acacia in
Madrid. His reason for joining was to secure Freemasonry’s
aid in his fight against the friars in the Philippines. Later he
was transferred to Lodge Solidaridad where he became a
Master Mason on November 15, 1890.
MADRID, SPAIN
1884
January 2, 1884 - Rizal proposed to the Circulo Hispano-
Filipino the publication of a book.
November 20, 21 and 22, 1884, Rizal was involved in student
demonstrations. They were fighting for Dr. Miguel Morayta
who proclaimed that “the freedom of science and the
teacher”. Such liberal view was condemned by the Catholic
bishops of Spain.
June 21, 1884 - He finished his degree in Licentiate in
Medicine

GERMANY
April 22, 1886 - Rizal wrote the poem "A Las Flores de
Heidelberg".
March 21, 1887 - Copies of Noli Me Tangere went of the
press
On July 31, 1886, Rizal wrote his first letter in German to
Professor Ferdinand Blumentritt. Rizal heard that Blumentritt
was interested in the Philippine languages.
GERMANY
1887
May 13, 1887 - Rizal and Viola on board arrived at
the railroad station of Leitmeritz, Bohemia. Professor
Blumentritt waited for them in the station. For the first
time, Rizal and Blumentritt met each other.
MANILA, PHILIPPINES
August 5, 1887 - Rizal came back to Manila.
Possession and Reading of Noli Me Tangere was
prohibited.
HONGKONG
February 8, 1888 - Rizal arrived at Hongkong.

February 16, 1888 - Rizal wrote to Blumentritt that
"Hongkong is a small but very clean city."
JAPAN
February 28, 1888 - He arrived in Japan.
March 4, 1888 - He wrote Blumentritt about the
honesty, courtesy, cleanliness and industry of the
Japanese people.
BIARITZ, FRANCE
1891
March 21, 1891 - Rizal finished writing the El
Filibusterismo
PARIS, FRANCE
October 3, 1891 - Rizal sent a letter with 600
copies of the El Filibusterismo to Jose Ma. Basa in
Hong Kong syaing that he was definitely taking the
next trip of the Melbourne for Hong Kong from
Marseilles.
PHILIPPINES
June 26, 1892 - Rizal arrived in the Philippines using the boat
Don Juan.
On June 27, Rizal boarded a train in Tutuban Station and
visited his friends. And on Wednesday July 6, Rizal went to

Malacañan Palace to resume his series of interviews. The
governor general then presented to him some printed leaflets
(Pobres Frailes) which were allegedly found in Lucia’s pillow
cases. Rizal denied having those leaflets because they were
thoroughly searched upon their arrival from Hong Kong and
was found clean. Despite his denial and insistent demand for
investigation he was placed under arrest and escorted to
Fort Santiago.
July 15, 1892, Rizal was brought to the steamer Cebu which
was sailing for Dapitan. On the 17th of July, Rizal was handed
over to Captain Ricardo Carnicero, the commandant of
Dapitan. His exile in Dapitan lasted until July 31, 1896, a
period of four years.
