    Technical Brief

    Macintosh OS X Driver
    Installation - Horizon ®

    Overview
    The Codonics PostScript Driver CD includes files needed for
    printing directly to a Horizon from a Macintosh running OS
    X. These instructions describe installation of version 1.7.2
    Horizon PostScript drivers on a Macintosh host system run-
    ning OS X version 10.3, connected to a Horizon imager run-
    ning version 1.7.2 software. Operation may vary with other
    configurations.
    Steps 7-12 are illustrated by the following figure.
    Printing from Macintosh host systems is done using a TCP/
    IP LPR connection. AppleTalk may also be used but is not
    recommended and not covered by this Tech Brief.

    Printer Installation
    1. Be sure that the network settings -- IP address, subnet
    mask, and gateway -- have been properly assigned and
    set at the Horizon imager.
    2. Start the Macintosh host system and log in to an account
    with administrative privileges.
    3. Insert the Codonics PostScript Driver CD into the CD
    drive. After a few moments the CD icon will appear on
    the desktop. Open this drive and open the “Mac” folder.
    It has three files as shown below.

    7. Select “IP Printing” from the top menu.


    8. Select “LPD/LPR” from the “Printer Type” menu.
    9. Enter the Horizon IP address into the “Printer Address”
    field.
    10. Enter ‘7’ into the “Queue Name” field.
    11. From the “Printer Model” menu, select “Other...” and
    browse to the “CXHRZN11.PPD” file stored on the Desk-
    top. Select this file.
    12. Click on the “Add” button.
    Installation is now complete, however the printer name will
    appear as something like “7 on 10.1.91.91.” A more meaningful
    name can be assigned by continuing with the following steps.
    4. Copy only the “CXHRZN11.PPD” file to the Desktop, If there is no need to change the name, proceed to step 17.

    rectly, start an application program and make a test print.
