GUIDELINES FOR STUDENTS REGARDING THEIR SUMMER


TRAINING REPORT

A. GENERAL INFORMATION TO BE COLLECTED BY STUDENTS


DURING SUMMER TRAINING
Along with the data regarding the topic, following general information is to be collected
by students undergoing in–company or in–plant training irrespective of their functional
areas / topic, etc.
 Sales performance for last five years (Product wise if possible)
o In Units
o In Rupees
 Number of Employees, different section-wise with due classification like skilled, semi
– skilled, unskilled worker, officers, managers, etc.
 Photograph (s) in the organization, while discussing with officer of the company if
possible.
 Organizational charts (with Explanation)
 Annual Reports for last 3-5 years.
 Historical background of the company.
 Future plans of the company.
 Product, literature, photographs of the products, technical details, etc.
 List of competitors.
 Other relevant information such as export strategy, market share.

Students are also advised to buy a book/ reference material on the industry under study, for
example, if a student is undergoing summer training in a textile industry, he/she can refer
books on topics related to “Textile Industry in India”. Such book may help the students to
have deep insight of the industry and its problems.

B. NUMBER OF PAGES FOR THE REPORT:

As per the requirement of project (60-80 pages in all)

Report should be printed both sides (Chapter 1 onwards)

C. TYPING INSTRUCTIONS:

 Page Numbering – Bottom centered


 Font Type – Times New Roman/ Arial
 Font Color – Black only
 Font Size – Uniform & Consistent throughout the report
 Chapter Heading – 16 (Bold)
 Titles – 14 (Bold)
 Normal Text – 12 (Regular)
 Line Spacing – 1.5
 Graphical Presentation – Color / Black & White
 Reference Number - Each and every Table / Exhibit / Figure must be assigned its
reference number. E.g. – Table 1.1, Fig 1.1, etc.

D. PRINTING INSTRUCTIONS

 First Copy - Original in all respects. (Originally typed with original certificate)
 Second Copy – Originally printed / photocopy of the FIRST copy.

E. BINDING INSTRUCTIONS:

 First Copy – Original Project Report – BLACK HARD BINDING


 Second Copy – Photocopy of Original – BLACK HARD BINDING

F. SUBMITTING PROJECT REPORT:

Summer Training Report is to be submitted on or before due date to your Coordinator


after getting approved by your faculty in-charge.
 First Copy – Original Project Report + 1 CD Format : Will be submitted for
Evaluation
 Second Copy – For Library (To be submitted along with original copy)

Chapter 3 – Conceptual Discussion (Theoretical Backdrop & Literature Review)

A brief theoretical backdrop and literature review about the project is required to be
given like referring to some standard textbooks, journals, magazines, newspaper, etc.
Attempt should be made to collect latest information by scanning latest articles
published in periodicals, journals, etc. Please note that latest authentic data adds to the
quality of project and gives good impression to Viva committee as well as the
organization, where in student is placed for Summer Training and he / she has done
extensive review and survey pertaining to project.

Chapter 4 - Data Analysis - # -


In this chapter presentation and analysis primary data (if applicable) is collected
through Questionnaires, Observation, Inspection of records, Interviews conducted and
/ or secondary data collected from published records be systematically analyzed and
tables, graphs, diagrams also are used wherever necessary to present the data. Every
table / data should be followed by suitable interpretation.
Students are advised to mention here the actual task performed during the summer
training. Ensure that you meet your training objectives mentioned in Chapter 2.

Chapter 5 - Findings and Recommendations - # -


Based on data analysis presented in earlier chapter(s), relevant observations and
inferences to be made / drawn. In second part of this chapter, practical suggestion /
recommendations are to be given to the organization.

 BIBLIOGRAPHY
Reference Books, Journals, Newspapers, Websites, Reports, etc are to be listed out
here. Examples as how to write are given below:
