Lesson-Plan-2 Chemistry
GRADE 8
I. OBJECTIVES
A. Content Standards:
The learner demonstrate an understanding of
1. The learner’s atomic structure of a substances
B. Performance Standards:
1. Appreciating the importance of atom in their lives
C. Learning Competencies:
The learners should be able to:
1. Determine the charges of electron , neutron and proton
2. Explain the repulsion and attraction
D. Specific objectives
At the end of the lesson, the learners will be able to:
1. define the subatomic particle,
2. distinguish the mass of subatomic particles using different ways of visual representation, and
3. identify which subatomic particle contributes to the mass of the atom.
A. Elicit
1. Review I have here some words on the board about the topic last time. The students will participate in the class.
Match it with the corresponding charges.
proton neutral
proton neutral
electron positively charge
electron positively charge
2. Word Drill
There are some scrambled words on the board. Arranged those
words and recite it orally.
ngaevite
negative
nruteal
neutral
msas
mass
craghe
charge
necuuls
nucleus
psiitvoe
positive
Now altogether read the words.
B. Engage
I have here a picture of avocado let’s compare it in an atom.
1. Motivation Describe the picture, what does the seed represent in a structure of
an atom?
C. Explore
Activity You will be performing an activity now, so open your book on
page 195. You will be doing this with the same group. Just follow
the procedure and answer the questions that follows.
Objectives:
After performing this activity, you should be able to:
1. compare the masses of the subatomic particles using
different ways of
visual representation
2. infer which subatomic particle contributes to the mass of
the atom
Materials Needed:
pencil/pen
crayons or colored pencils
Procedure:
1. Refer to the masses of the subatomic particles in Table 2.
Arrange the subatomic particles in increasing mass.
Q4. How does the mass of the neutron compare with the mass of
the proton? Using circles to represent the particles show the
comparison by drawing a seesaw with the particles on it.
Q5. How many electrons should be placed on one side of the
seesaw to balance it if the other side has 1 proton on it, like the
one shown below? Write the number on the space provided in the
illustration below.
D. Explain
1. Discussion Subatomic particles are the particles found inside the atom.
Okay class, what are the subatomic particles of an atom? Proton, Electron, and Neutron Ma’am.
Correct!
Correct!
E. Elaboration
F. Evaluation Class, get ½ crosswise and answer the following on the board.
You are given 10 minutes to answer it.
G. Extend
Assignment: I have here on the board your assignment, please copy it on your
notebook and write your answers on a ½ crosswise. Pass it next
meeting.
