PHILOSOPHY :
Nursing practice provides the scope of health services to people within health care settings for
full life time .This service is mainly based on the application of basic concepts and principles of
physical ,biological and behavioral sciences. Nursing possess the value of helping the
individuals to explore their potential to maintain independence and get them back to society
with due respect. Nursing also serves a collaborative care by good approach of team nursing .
Graduate program for nurses is directed towards enhancing critical thinking skills, competencies
and standards required for practice of professional nursing and midwifery in academic
framework as specified in National Health Policy 2000.
The teacher influence the students by creating learning environment where the students acquire
inquisitive, self directed learning and foster an attitude of lifelong learning .
This program also helps the nurse graduates to excel their roles abiding by the code of ethics and
professional conduct to fulfill personal ,social , professional as well as national obligation as a
citizen.
AIMS :
The aims of graduate nursing program is to :
posses themselves as a responsible professional with competency on nursing and
midwifery to provide basic services to individual family, group or community on
promotive , preventive ,curative and rehabilitative aspects .
Competent on independent decision making on nursing situation for protecting the rights
of clients or patients and facilitates individual and groups in maintenance of health
,function in hospital and community nursing services and also conduct research studies in
areas of nursing practice.
Assume the graduate nurses the role of teacher, supervisor ,manager in clinical public
health settings.
OBJECTIVES :
Assess the health status ,identify nursing needs ,plan ,implement and
evaluate nursing care for patients / clients that contribute to health of
individuals ,families and communities.
Demonstrate competencies in techniques of nursing based on concepts and
principles from selected areas of nursing ,physical ,biological and
behavioral sciences.
Participate as members of health team in the promotive
,preventive,curative and restorative health care delivery system of the
country.
Maintain skills in communication and interpersonal relationship.
Demonstrate leadership qualities and decision making abilities in various
situations.
Provide effective teaching to individuals and groups both in hospital as
well as in community health settings.
Demonstrate managerial skills in community health settings.
Practice ethical values in their personal and professional life.
Participate in research activities and utilize esearch findings in improving
nursing practice.
Recognize the need of continued learning for their personal and
professional development.
