1 Scope
This standard describes reducing-type nozzles for nozzle assemblies such as instrument nozzles, drains and
vents. For such nozzles, no nozzle stiffening (e.g. angles etc.) is required. Moreover, freezing of piping, which is
not heat traced, shall be avoided by means of these nozzles. These nozzles are always welded on.
2 Normative references
This standard contains provisions which, through undated references in this text, constitute provisions of other
publications. The normative references are cited at the respective part in the text and the publications are listed
below. Issues valid at the time of placement of order shall govern.
ISO 2768-1 General tolerances; tolerances for linear and angular dimensions without individual tolerance
indications
ASME B16.25 Buttwelding Ends
ASTM A106 Standard Specification for Seamless Carbon Steel Pipe for High-Temperature Service
ASTM A312 Standard Specification for Seamless and Welded Austenitic Stainless Steel Pipes
ASTM A333 Standard Specification for Seamless and Welded Steel Pipe for Low-Temperature Service
ASTM A335 Standard Specification for Seamless and Welded Carbon and Alloy-Steel Tubes for Low-
Temperature Service
3 General
3.1 Dimensional tolerances and surfaces
3.1.1 For the welding necks the dimensional tolerances of the matching pipe shall apply
3.1.2 For all other dimensions ISO 2768-1-m shall apply
3.1.3 Rz = 100 is valid for all surfaces
3.2 Welding edges
Welding edges shall be manufactured acc. to ASME B16.25. They are identified by the symbol SK in the
following figure.

Possible branch sizes: NPS ¾" (d1 = 26,7 mm), NPS 1 (d1 = 33,4 mm), NPS 1½ (d1 = 48,3 mm),
NPS 2 (d1 = 60,3 mm)
The matching wall thickness of the branch s1 shall be according to the pipe specification.
The material shall be selected acc. to the pipe specification and the applicable material group. Details
concerning the material groups shall be taken into consideration.
From Cl.600 up to class.1500 nozzles of type AY shall only be used for seamless run pipe. Up to Cl.600 the
values of standard wall thickness serve as calculation basis. For other design conditions the dimensions shall
be verified individually by calculation; the dimensions of this standard shall be confirmed or determined newly.
