To Whom It May Concern: I had the pleasure of having Emily Dalgleish as a student in my ED 310 Curriculum & Methods course at Hope College during the spring semester of 2013. She is by far one of the best and most self-motivated students Ive had, and I was extremely impressed with her passion for learning about the profession. She was one of those students I thoroughly enjoyed having in class and always looked forward to seeing her because of our conversations regarding education and all the possibilities it has to offer. As a student, I was impressed with Emily from the start. In class, she was sharp, listened attentively, engaged in discussions, and displayed a great eagerness to understand each concept. She is definitely a self-starter and a highly motivated student. During group work, she related very well with other students and always added relevant contributions to the conversations. Emily built a strong rapport with me as well, be it talking about course-related material, teaching, or just life in general. I was extremely impressed with her eagerness to learn and her professionalism as a student. Emilys passion for the field has grown tremendously in the past year with each course, placement, and experience. She served on the ASCD student board when I was the faculty advisor and accompanied a group to the national conference. She was eager to learn as much as she could about the profession during the conference and talked about how she would implement each new idea in her future classroom. In addition to my work as a college professor, Ive had 15 years experience as an elementary and middle school teacher, and I can say without a doubt that any district that hires Emily will be lucky to have her. Her love for helping students and positive outlook comes through when she speaks, and she will definitely be the teacher who is eager to continue in her own growth to make her classroom the best it can be for her students. From what I have observed, Emily has many excellent qualities that will be assets during her career as a teacher. Among many others, she is organized, reflective, and collaborative. I would recommend Emily for any teaching position she pursues. She will most definitely have a positive influence on many childrens lives.
Sincerely,
