Lesson Plan in Science IV

a. Describe how heat is transffered in solid meterials

b. demonstrate how heat travels to solid materials.
I-Objectives
c. Draw how heat travel in a solid materials.

Demonstrate understanding on how heat travel using various objects.

A.Content Stamdardards:

B.Performance Standards: The Learners should be able to understand the prpoerties of heat..

Learning Competencies: Investigate properties and characteristics of heat S$FE-IIIh-5

e. Action song

The teacher will divide the class into 3 groups.

a. The teacher will give each group a word puzzle to be arrange
and look its meaning of the word on the board.
Group 1- l Conduction-

Group 2- Metals- A substance ( Such as Gold, tin or copper) That

appearance, is a good conducter of electricty and heat.
Engagement
Group 3- Temperature- a measurement that indicates how hot or cold
something.
The teacher will check the game puzzle
the teacher will show some materials that made of metal.

e . The teacher will ask:

What are the things your mom use when she is cooking?
Does this things help your mom cook the food faster?
What are they made of?
Don’t you know that metal is a good conductor of heat.
Metal is also has important rules of our daily life.

1. Group Activity:
2.Let the pupils do the activity Lesson 50 : LM Activity 1 and 2
"How is heat transfferes in solid materials?"
3. Let each group answer all the questions in the activity.
Exploration 4. Proper guidance should be given by the teacher.
5. The teacher will give them 15 minutes to do this.
6. The class will prepare their output and they will present it in the class.

1. Group reporting based on theresult of the activity

2. The Teacher will discuss the important key terms in the answers
of the pupils on the board.
3. The teaccher emphasize the following key ideas after the report.
conduction-the transfer of heat through solid materials.
The heat from the lamp makes the atoms of the bottom
of the bottom of the nail to vibrate faster.
Conduction is the heat transfer through a substance or from
a substance to another by direct contact.
Everything is made up of small particles. When particles are moving
Explanation
fastre, there is more energy and the temperature is higher.
As fast moving touch slow moving particles, the energy is transferred.
This causes slower particles to speed up and the faster particles to slow
down.
There are materials allow heat to flow through easily. We call them
conductors. Metal are good conductors that's why we
use them as cooking utensils because heat moves fast
through the metal pan to the food. There are materials through which heat
passes slowly or not at all. We call these insulators.
Some insulators are wood, plastic and ceramic.
Generalization:
Who can tell to the class what is conductors?
What are a good conductor?
Who can give some example of a good conductors?
Why do you think there is a transfer of heat to the metal?

Application:
Elaboration
Elaboration The Teacher will give them another sets of activity.
Directions: Draw an arrow to show the direction of how heat travels
in the given picture.

Each leader will tell something about their drawings.

Evaluation Directions: List 10 materails that are good heat conductors.

Directions:
Read more about conductors.
