SECTION 405000
SECTION 405000
PART 1 GENERAL
1.1 SUMMARY
A. Design Requirements: In accordance with this Section, ASME B31.1, NFPA 24, and the
Uniform Plumbing Code (UPC), as applicable. Deviations and alternates are not
permitted.
1.3 SUBMITTALS
1.4 DEFINITIONS
A. Material Test Reports (MTRs): Show results of all chemistry and mechanical tests and
shall be signed by Manager of pipe manufacturer’s Quality Control Department.
PART 2 PRODUCTS
2.1 GENERAL
A. Piping materials and components shall be in accordance with pipe data sheets at end of
Section.
C. Special Fittings:
1. Special fittings shall be constructed in accordance with ASTM A182, ASTM
A234 or ASTM A217 from materials equivalent to the pipe materials with which
the fitting will be used.
2. All wye fittings shall be seamless, shall be specially reinforced at the crotch to
reduce stress concentration, and shall have strength equal to or greater than the
connecting piping so as to carry full bending and torsional loads from piping.
3. The exterior surfaces of the wye fittings shall be machined to remove as much
excess metal as possible. The wye fittings shall be internally contoured to
provide a smooth continuous transition in flow area from the inlet connection or
connections to the outlet connection or connections.
D. Use of pipes, flanges, or fittings manufactured or fabricated in China or India are not
permitted.
PART 3 EXECUTION
3.1 SUPPLEMENTS
