was spoken in Ayodhya, Lord Rama’s birthplace.

Gayatri mantra has been bestowed the greatest importance in Vedic dharma. This mantra has also been termed as Savitri and
Veda-Mata, the mother of the Vedas.

ॐ भूर्भुवः स्वः तत्सवितु र्वरे ण्यं भर्गो दे वस्य धीमहि धियो यो नः प्रचोदयात् ॥

The literal meaning of the mantra is:

God! You are Omnipresent, Omnipotent and Almighty. You are all Light. You are all Knowledge and Bliss. You are Destroyer of
fear; You are Creator of this Universe, You are the Greatest of all. We bow and meditate upon your light.
You guide our intellect in the right direction.

The mantra, however, has a great scientific import too, which somehow got lost in the literary tradition. The modern
astrophysics and astronomy tell us that our Galaxy called Milky Way or Akash-Ganga contains approximately 100,000 million
of stars. Each star is like our sun having its own planet system. We know that the moon moves round the earth and the earth
moves round the sun along with the moon. All planets round the sun.

Each of the above bodies revolves round at its own axis as well. Our sun along with its family takes one round of the galactic
centre in 22.5 crore years. All galaxies including ours are moving away at a terrific velocity of 20,000 miles per second. And
now the alternative scientific meaning of the mantra step-by-step:

Om bhur bhuvah swah:

Bhur the earth, bhuvah the planets (solar family), swah the Galaxy. We observe that when an ordinary fan with a speed of 900
RPM (rotations Per minute) moves, it makes noise. Then, one can imagine, what great noise would be created when the
galaxies move with a speed of 20,000 miles per second.
This is what this portion of the mantra explains that the sound produced due to the fast-moving earth, planets and galaxies is
Om. The sound was heard during meditation by Rishi Vishvamitra, who mentioned it too their colleagues. All of them, then
unanimously decided to call this sound Om the name of God, because this sound is available in all the three periods of time,
hence it is set (permanent). Therefore, it was the first ever-revolutionary idea to identify formless God with a specific title
(form) called upadhi. Until that time, everybody recognized God as formless and nobody was prepared to accept this new idea.
In the Gita also, it is said, “Omiti ekaksharam Brahma”, meaning that the name of the Supreme is Om, which contains only one
syllable (8/12). This sound Om heard during samadhi was called by all the seers nada-Brahma a very great noise), but not a
noise that is normally beyond a specific amplitude and limits of decibels suited to human hearing. Hence the rishis called this
sound Udgith musical sound of the above, i.e., heaven. They also noticed that the infinite mass of galaxies moving with a
velocity of 20,000 miles/second was generating a kinetic energy= 1/2MV2 and this was balancing the total energy
consumption of the cosmos. Hence they named it Pranavah, which means the body (vapu) or storehouse of energy (prana).

Tat savitur varenyam:

Tat that (God), savitur the sun (star), varenyam worthy of bowing or respect. Once the form of a person along with the name is
known to us, we may locate the specific person. Hence the two titles (upadhi) provide the solid ground to identify the formless
God, Vishvamitra suggested. He told us that we could know (realize) the unknowable formless God through the known factors,
viz., sound Om and light of suns (stars).
A mathematician can solve an equation x2+y2=4; if x=2; then y can be known and so on. An engineer can measure the width of
a river even by standing at the riverbank just by drawing a triangle. So was the scientific method suggested by Vishvamitra in
the mantra in the next portion as under

Bhargo devasya dheemahi:

Bhargo the light, devasya of the deity, dheemahi we should meditate. The Rishi instructs us to meditate upon the available
form (light of suns) to discover the formless Creator (God). Also he wants us to do Japam of the word Om (this is understood in
the Mantra) . This is how the sage wants us to proceed, but there is a great problem to realize it, as the human mind is so
shaky and restless that without the grace of the Supreme (Brahma) it cannot be controlled. Hence Vishvamitra suggests the
way to pray Him as under.

Dhiyo yo nah prachodayat:

Dhiyo (intellect), yo (who), nah (we all), prachodayat (guide to right Direction). O God! Deploy our intellect on the right path.

Full scientific interpretation of the Mantra

The earth (bhur), the planets (bhuvah), and the galaxies (swah) are moving at a very great velocity, the sound produced is Om,
(the name of formless God.) That God (tat), who manifests Himself in the form of light of suns (savitur) is worthy of bowing /
respect (varenyam). We all, therefore, should meditate (dheemahi) upon the light (bhargo) of that deity (devasya) and also do
chanting of Om. May He (yo) guide in right direction (prachodayat) our (nah) intellect dhiyo

So we notice that the important points hinted in the mantra are:-

1) The total kinetic energy generated by the movement galaxies acts as an umbrella and balances the total energy
consumption of the cosmos. Hence it was named as the Pranavah (body of energy). This is equal to 1/2 mv2 (Mass of galaxies x
velocity)

2) Realizing the great importance of the syllable OM, the other later date religions adopted this word with a slight change in
accent, viz., amen and Ameen.
3) The God could be realized through the saguna (gross), upasana (method), i.e.,
(a) by chanting the name of the supreme as OM and
(b) by meditating upon the light emitted by stars (suns).

Maha Mrityunjaya mantra and Om Namah Shivaya mantra, both are sacred mantras dedicated to Maha Rudra in the Sanatan
Dharma. Om Namah Shivaya mantra generates several sound waves per second. These waves enhance human intelligence to
the optimum level. Chanting Om Namah Shivaya slowly during Meditation gives Harmony, Concentration, and strength.

Rig Veda defined Supreme being as Maharudra, the one who is Vishnu Vallabha. Lord Shiva symbolizes the Maharudra (रुदन
रोकने वाला ) means the one who wipes out the tears. If chanter chants the mantra with true devotion towards Sachidanand,
their mind, body, and soul go through the transcendental phase, and they can even switch their dimensions.

The Mantra

ॐ नमः शिवाय:

Translation: Adoration to Lord Shiva

The mantra focuses on Shiva who is understood to be the concluding part of the trinity, which includes Brahma and Vishnu.
The repetition of the mantra is such that the last syllable of the mantra is the doorway to Shiva-consciousness, moving from
the end to a new beginning.

Om Namah Shivaya is Panchakshari mantra excluding Omkar (primary cosmic vibration) . Namah Shivaya attached with the
five essential elements of the materialistic world NA – MA -SI – VA – YA.

Na Earth Element (Prithvi Tattva)

Ma Water Element (Jal Tattva)

Si Fire element (Agni Tattva)

Va Air element (Vayu Tattva)

Ya Space element (Akasha Tattva)

ॐ नमः शिवाय mantra chanting brings transcendental changes to the body of the chanter. Sages all around the world are busy
in chanting the auspicious mantra through which they have increased their abilities to infinite levels.

Shiva as we know him today shares many features with Rudra, and Shiva and Rudra are viewed as the same personality in
Hindu scriptures. The two names are used synonymously. Rudra, the god of the roaring storm, is usually portrayed in
accordance with the element he represents as a fierce, destructive deity.

Though the name looks fierce, Lord Rudra is highly merciful and benevolent in fulfilling the needs of the devotees. Here are a
few Rudra mantras with their meanings and benefits.

Panchakshari Shiva Mantra

“OM NAMAH SHIVAYA”

Meaning:
This is the most popular Rudra mantra chanted from times immemorial. Made of five syllables Om, Na, Ma, Shi, Va, and Ya,
this mantra represents the five elements. The literal translation of this mantra is “I bow down to Lord Shiva”.

Powerful Rudra mantra

“Om Namo Bhagavate Rudraya”

Meaning:
This is one of the most powerful and simplest Rudra mantras used widely for holy chants, worship and meditation. It praises
Lord Rudra and prays him to bless the individual.

Shiv Gayatri mantra

“OM TATPURUSHAYA VIDMAHE MAHA DEVAYA DHEEMAHI TANNOH RUDRAH PRACHODAYAT”

Meaning:
Gayatri mantras are protective in nature. They act like a shield surrounding the individual and protect them from all fears and
dangers. The Shiv Gayatri mantra says I meditate on the Supreme Being of Lord Maha Deva. Let Lord Rudra illumine my
intellect and show a clear path to proceed.

Shiv Dhyana mantra

“KARACHARANKRITAM VAA KAAYJAM KARMJAM VAA SHRAVANNAYANJAM VAA MAANASAM VAA APARADHAM VIHITAM
AVIHITAM VAA SARVAMETA KSHAMASVA JAY JAY KARUNAABDHE SHREE MAHADEV SHAMBHO”

Meaning:
Oh merciful Lord Mahadev, kindly forgive me for the sins committed through my hands and feet, body and through actions.
Pardon the sins committed through the ears, eyes and mind, knowingly or unknowingly.

Mahamrityunjaya mantra

“OM TRYAMBAKAM YAJAMAHE SUGANDHIM PUSHTI VARDHANAM URVARUKAMIVA BANDHANATH MRITYORMUKSHIYA

MAMRITAT”

Meaning:
This is the ultimate mantra to escape the fear of death. The mantra prays Lord Shiva and says, “Oh the three-eyed Lord, you
are the master of the universe and filled with a divine fragrance. You are the one who distributes nourishment to all beings. As
the ripe cucumber is released automatically from its mother plant, relieve me from the fear of death and lead me to

MOST POWERFUL MANTRAS TO EVOKE LORD GANESHA

Widely revered as the remover of obstacles, the patron of arts and sciences and the ‘Deva’ of intellect and wisdom, Lord
Ganesha (also known as Ganapati and Vinayaka) is one of the best-known and most worshipped deities in the Hindu religion.
As the God of beginnings, he is honored at the start of rituals and ceremonies.

He is the son of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati and the brother of Lord Kartikeya, Goddess Lakshmi and Saraswati.

Being the embodiment of three virtues namely Buddhi, Siddhi and Riddhi known as wisdom, spirituality and prosperity
respectively, Lord Ganesha is the personification of Buddhi Himself. The other two virtues are personified as Goddesses and
considered to be the consorts of Lord Ganesha. Though there are different opinions on His marital status, both Puranas –
Mudgala and Shiva Purana which are considered as authority, talk about the marital life of Lord Ganesha.

As per Shiva Purana, Lord Ganesha had two sons who were named as Shubh and Labh. Shubh and Labh are personification of
auspiciousness and profit respectively. Shubh was the son of Goddess Riddhi and Labh was the son of Goddess Siddhi.

Here are a few powerful mantras to evoke the blessings of Ganesha

Basic Ganpati Mantra

“Om Gam Ganpataye Namah”

Meaning : It means bowing down to the Almighty Ganpati with all our existence and accepting all his great qualities in our self
being.

Benefit : It wards off all the negativities from one’s life before beginning any work. Chanting of this mantra ensures success in
all the new ventures that one wishes to undertake.

Vakratunda Ganesh Mantra

One of the most important and also one of the most common Ganpati Mantras, this is the Ganesh mantra for wealth, and is
dedicated to Lord Ganesha, Goddess Riddhi (Hindu Goddess of Prosperity) and Goddess Siddhi (Hindu Goddess of spiritual
enlightenment).

modesty.

Aum Ekadantaya Viddhamahe, Vakratundaya Dhimahi,

Tanno Danti Prachodayat॥

greater intellect to the Lord with the curved, elephant-shaped trunk. We bow before the one with the single-tusked elephant
tooth to illuminate our minds with wisdom.”

Ekadanta referring to one tusk in the elephant face means that God broke the duality and made us to have a complete one-
pointed mind.
