Goddess Lakshmi is on earth for 5days starting from Dhanteras .Goddess Lakshmi was incarnated during the Samudra Manthan when the Gods and Demons churned the ocean. When Goddess Lakshmi emerged from the ocean, everyone was mesmerized by her beauty. Lakshmi Puja is performed as a combined worship of five deities - Lord Ganesha, Goddess Lakshmi in her three forms as Mahalakshmi, Mahasarswati and Mahakali, and the last deity Kuber. Lay down a new red cloth on a raised platform Place a handful of grains (Wheat or rice) in the centre of the cloth.
Place a Kalash and fill three-fourth of it with water. Now place a betel nut (Paan leave), a flower, a coin, and some rice grains in it. Arrange five kinds of leaves or 5 mango leaves at the mouth of kalash. Place a small dish on the kalash and fill it with rice grains. Draw a lotus with turmeric powder ( haldi ) over the rice grains and place the idol of goddess Lakshmi over it, along with coins (gold or silver coins). You can also place Shri yantra, if you have. Lit Deepak in Desi Ghee and Dhoop. Firstly perform Ganesh Pooja. After Ganesh Pooja perform Navgrah Pooja. Place the idol of Lord Ganesha on the right (South-West direction) of Kalash. Place pen,ink and cash books related to your business or occupation near it. Light a lamp and offer haldi, kumkum, and flowers to the platform. Offer haldi, kumkum, and flowers to the water that is to be used for the puja. Worship Goddess Lakshmi:
Dip idol of Maa lakshmi ji stepwise into Ganga Jal,Milk, Curd, Desi Ghee, Honeyand after that mix all the items and again dip idol of Maa lakshmi ji into the mixture called Panchamrit and finally again dip Maa Lakshmi Ji in Ganga Jal. Wipe the idol with a soft cloth and place it back on the kalash. Invoke Maa Lakshmi by reciting the mantras and offer Akshat i.e. rice to Maa Lakshmi Ji.
Smear forehead of Maa Lakshmi ji with tilak of Roli Offer flowers specially Lotus to Maa Lakshmi Ji. Offer other Shringar Items like Sindoor, Bangles etc. to Maa Lakshmi Ji. Perform Pooja Archana of Maa Lakshmi Ji with Dhoop and Deep.
