During the
past weeks or months, have you had any problems at school or in your daily life? How many hours do
you sleep per day? Would you like to know what are the effects of stress to yourself? How it can affect
you? How about to learn how to fight against it? Hello. I’m Kate Lorraine Yabut from 11 Humss D-Pavlov.
I have decided to chose the topic about rise on mental health issues among young adults. I’ve been
thinking hard what to choose topic for this reaction paper but I choose mental health issue because I
decided to raise some awareness. Mental health issue is a serious matter. Mental health issues sounds
harmless to us but in reality, it affect a lot of people not only in the Philippines but around the world
especially young adults.
One of my cousin really suffer from mental health, to the point he want to end his life. He was
suffering from depression for the past 2 years. He was holding everything back in his own. He kept all his
problem by himself in those years. But one day he open up to us that he really can’t handle it anymore.
Just like my cousin, his situation and conditions are no joke, so why don’t we take mental health more
seriously? Some reasons why young adults suffering from mental health is because of too much
pressure from our studies or in our home and not having anyone to talk to. Stress and pressure are the
main reason why people suffer from mental health. Because the pressure is always there but you just
need on how you handle it. Based on my research, people who most suffer from depression are young
adults. Mental health affects on how we think, feel and act. It also helps us to determine how we handle
stress. Mental health should not be something to be ashamed about. There is called stigma it is when
someone looks negative in you. Stigma can low are self esteem, living with a low self esteem can harm
our mental health, leading to depression or anxiety. By raising some awareness, mental health can be
seen as an illness. Mental health can lead us to depression, anxiety disorders and many more.
Awareness is the key to understand what mental health is. It is important that we need to be physically
fit and healthy at the same time to take care our mental health. We should get plenty of sleep because
it’s important for our mental health and physical health. There are plenty of things we can do to help us
to keep ourselves mentally healthy.
For those who often dealing with mental health issue, they should talk with everyone they know.
Encourage them to help and assist them. They also should open up their experiences, if you struggled
about mental health, share your story. And lastly encourage you to do some physical health that
supports mental health. Help people to understand that physical health can have a direct impact on our
mental health. We can prevent mental health issues by doing our normal daily life or activities. If you
find your friend suffering from mental health, talk to them nicely. Simple act of kindness will mean so
much to them. Be with them especially in their difficult times. Gather your inner self then focus. Turn
your stress into success. Relax and always motivate yourself. Receiving help is the most important thing
anyone can do to themselves.
