Announces Local/Open Auditions for Principal Flute


Auditions will be held in Seattle at McCaw Hall on Monday, March 18, 2019.
Preliminary Auditions will start at 9:30 AM on March 18, 2019
Only highly qualified candidates will be invited to audition.
Employment will begin at the earliest availability of the winning candidate.

Candidates may be required, as part of the Final Audition, to return to Seattle at a later date or mutually convenient
opportunity to perform with the Orchestra or pertinent section with the Music Director conducting.

Required Solo:
Please prepare a solo of your choice.

Audition deposit checks will be returned to candidates upon their arrival at the audition, or will be returned to
candidates who are not selected to audition.
Invited candidates will be sent copies of required excerpts and audition details.

The PNB Orchestra is a per service orchestra.

Principal compensation for the 2019-2020 season will be $268.61 for all 2.5-hour services, and $322.33 for all 3-
hour services. There are six Repertory productions per season, plus Nutcracker.
The first production usually starts in mid to late September, and our last production typically ends around the first
week of June. Each production is typically scheduled within a two-week framework.
Nutcracker usually starts around Thanksgiving and finishes at the end of December.
There are on average 9 services per Repertory production and around 38 Nutcracker services.
All players are required to play a minimum of 70% of Nutcracker services, but can opt to play all services.
Benefits include access to health, dental, and vision insurance plans, and there is a 401K plan.
