Water Pollution
Water pollution occurs when harmful substances, chemical substances for example,
contaminate a body of water, degrading the quality of the water. This is because of careless and
treacherous human activities. Without a doubt, it is pretty common everywhere and has
impacted on humankind and the natural environment negatively. However, it is still possible to
mitigate the negative effects of water contamination.
Explicitly or implicitly, the contamination of water, usually caused by industrial waste
and wastewater from inorganic farms, is detrimental to human beings and the ecosystem.
Polluted water can do harm to people who deal with it. Those who consume this water have
more chance than normal to suffer from serious or deadly diseases such as cancers. Children
and pregnant women are the ones who will suffer the most through consuming it- it can even
mean death. Just swimming in filthy water can result in skin related illnesses. It affects not only
humankind but also the environment. When water is unclean due to chemical substances, the
concentration of oxygen in the water decreases as a result of chemical reaction. It can seriously
harm the aquatic animals living in the water and even make them extinct. More to the point,
wild animals depending on a lake that is polluted will become sick, and the trees nearby can
stop growing and die. Hence, we together with the wildlife and marine life are under the threat
of the pollution of water.
It is critical that we should make our water clean and healthy again to save ourselves
and the nature from the hazard of contaminated water. The most obvious cause of this
problem, the disposal of factorial waste and sewage directly into water bodies, is to be dealt
with first. We should find and practice other safer methods of throwing this waste. If possible, it
would even be beneficial if it could be used to produce energy. Using pesticides and weedkillers
that go into water unnoticeably and spoil it is also to be limited for the sake of keeping our
water healthy. Moreover, aquatic vehicles such as motorboats and ships that can pollute water
by means of their exhaust fumes need to be restricted to some extent too. In this way, the
awful effects of water pollution on us will be lessened.
To draw a conclusion, the contamination of water caused by our activities has been a
threat to our lives and the wellbeing of the nature. Therefore, we have to use any techniques
possible to overcome that threat.
