Philip Nolan, P. Eng. REPRESENTATIVE PROJECT PROFILE

Representative projects for which Philip Nolan has had overall design
responsibility, include:

• RCMP Headquarters, Yellowknife, NT: This building complex has

been constructed in parts and renovated extensively over the years.
Philip provided general engineering services to identify and design a
Fall Protection System complete with controlled access zones and
weighted guardrail systems.

• Community Centre, Whati, NT: This project employed a number of

challenging framing requirements. The Upper roof area was tilted form
one corner to the other requiring auxiliary views to prepare proper
engineering plans. A sloping wall in the support area required careful
detailing of anchorage connections.

• CBC Building, Yellowknife, NT: Phil worked with a local Architectural

firm to develop plans and details for an addition to the office space.
This additional office space required demolition of an existing lower
roof. This project was completed while the building was occupied by
carefully staging construction activities. This project also included
preparation of a Fall Protection Plan for the other side of the building
where snow removal warranted protection of workers.

• Library Building, Baker Lake, NT: This project was a low rise steel
braced frame using open web steel joists, HSS steel columns and
wide flange steel beams.

• Nanuk Place 4 Plex, Inuvik, NT: This project involved the installation
of wide flange transfer beams under an existing occupied building in
order to provide an alternate new foundation for the failed untreated
timber piles which had been in service for close to fifty years.

• Office Space Recovery, Process Plant, Diavik Diamond Mines Inc.:

This project involved construction of new office space within an area
of the process plant. Careful attention to accommodating existing
materials resulted in additional office space for office workers.
