Warm-up (10 Minutes)
Welcome the students in the class by greeting them with a smile. Tell the students that we
are going to have lots of fun activities in the class together. We will learn a lot of new
things. We will make new friends and play interesting games.
Encourage the students to tell their names one by one.
Make them sit in a circle. Tell them that they have to say their name in a complete
sentence. (For example: What is your name? My name is Aisha)
Maintain eye contact with the students and keep a smile on your face. Make sure that
students participate in the activity without hesitance.
Concept Building (25 Minutes)
Tell the students that we are going to do an activity about greeting each other.
Tell them that when we greet someone, we should say: “AssalamAlaikum”, and shake our
right hand with them.
Also tell the students, that if someone says “Assalam-o-Alaikum” to us, we should say
“Walaikum-us-Salam”.
Sit on your knees and extend your right hand to one of the children. (Make sure they also
extend their right hand.)
Look them straight in the eyes.
Say: “Assalam-o-Alaikum (their name)”, and shake right hand with them.
Wait for the student to say“Walaikum-us-Salam”.
Repeat this until you have greeted every child.
Give positive remarks (like very good, well done and excellent) to all the students for
participating in the activity.
Sum up (05 minutes)

Before preparing for an outdoor visit, each child must have an extra napkin.
Children learn not to pluck flowers, and to care for plants.
Children learn not to throw sweet wrappers or any other rubbish on the ground.
Children not be allowed eat chewing gum or spit it out.
Use of plastic bags MUST be discouraged.
Concept Building (25 Minutes)
The teacher can lead the conversation to the importance of planting trees (helps purify the
air and reduce pollution).
Children must learn to wipe their shoes on a door mat when going home after school.
Children must be taught that hands gather dust all the time, especially after a farm visit.
They must not wipe their hands on their clothes. They should wash their hands properly
and wipe them on clean napkins.

Encourage children to eat more vegetables and fruit because they are good for their
health. A vegetable patch can be cultivated in the playground.
They can bring, for example, 2 or 3 oranges, bananas, cucumbers, apples, carrots and
guavas.
Concept Building (25 Minutes)
Tell the students that market is a place where each vegetable / fruit is priced at some Rs.
Arrange a set like a market from fruits which students brought in the class, now students
are pretending to give money to buy fruit from. At lunch time, the teacher could make fruit
chaat for everyone to share... it is a good way to introduce recipes.
Make a chart showing pictures of common fruits and vegetables. Record the names of the
children who eat these during one week. It is essential to explain that eating fruit and
vegetables is healthy. For example, a banana, an apple, some grapes, cucumber, and
tomato (a combination of green, yellow and purple foods) or pomegranate, lady fingers,
radishes, carrots, and capsicums (red, green, white, orange, and yellow) are readily
available fruits and vegetables.
Theme activities may appear non-mathematical, but for 3 to 6 year olds, all learning is
integrated.

Concept Building (30 minutes)
Ask the students to open page 1 of their maths beginner book.
Take a round and help the students to find page 1 of the book.
Ask them to guess the name of the picture. After taking the response ask them who have seen
this at the zoo.
Show a toy elephant / colourful picture to the students. Now ask them to tell its colour.
After getting the response, introduce the colour of an elephant.
Now ask the students to hold a gray colour pencil in their hands (demonstrate how they will
hold).
Take a round and help the students, how to hold a pencil correctly.
Now demonstrate the tracing of the line concept on the board / book page in front of the class.
After this ask them to trace the dotted lines to complete the picture of an elephant. Take a
round and check the work of students and guide them who are needed.
Now ask the students to colour the picture of an elephant. Take a round in the class and
observe the working of students. Ask them to do the colour within the outline of an elephant.
Check their work and appreciate the students who have done their job correctly. Guide the
students who are still making errors.
At the end ask the students to trace the curved lines. Guide them how to trace these lines by
demonstration.
