Lesson No. 8 Safety and First Aid

Competencies to be achieved:-
8.1 Students should understand different road signs and safety rules to be followed on
road.
8.2 Students will learn safety measures while playing in different areas.
8.3 Students will learn safety rules to be followed at school.
8.4 Students would be made aware of safety measures at home.
8.5 Students will learn safety rules to be followed while travelling in a vehicle.
8.6 Students will know how to behave in case of some mishap.

TLM/Activity by the teacher:-


1) Teacher will prepare flash cards of different road signs and show it to the students.
After the activity, teacher will paste a chart of road sign on the soft board.
2) Things which is not safe to play like knife, blade, scissor etc. which will be shown by
the teacher.
3) Take them to play area and teach them rules of playing and behaviour in play area
4) Take the students in the corridor and teach them how to walk in a queue and not to
run.
5) With the permission of transport in charge, students will be asked to board school
bus in the campus. Teacher will teach safety and behaviour while travelling in a bus.
6) Teacher will prepare a chart on important safety rules in school, home, while playing,
on the road and while travelling and paste it on the soft board.

TLM/Activity by the students:-


1) Students will draw different road signs in their notebook under the teacher’s
guidance.
2) Teacher will write all the safety rules to be followed at home on the BB. Students will
select at least 5 rules and write it on a paper and take an oath to follow it at home
and share it with their parents.

2) Make your own first-aid box and put medical things like bandage, antiseptic liquid or
cream, scissor, medicines, thermometer, cotton etc. Cover it with white paper and
draw a plus (+) sign on top of it and colour it red. Bring it in school.

Method of assessment:-
1) While taking round of the school and during break time spr. will observe the
students behaviour in the play area, during activity class, movement in
corridors, arrival and dispersal.
2) Spr. will ask the transport in charge regarding students behaviour in the bus
3) Spr. will visit the class and ask students to explain different road signs placed
on the soft board and discuss about the safety rules.
