Reading for comprehension: Answer the following questions

Q.1: what is this poem about?
Ans: The poem is about night.
Q.2: When do the stars shine?
Ans: When the sun sets, the evening stars shine.

Ans: Night brings silence and darkness for us.

Ans: Heaven’s high bower makes the moon happy.

Ans: The birds are taking rest therefore they are silent in their nests.
Grammar:
Simile
A simile compares two things using ‘like’ or ‘as’. For example, if I want to say that somebody
swims well, I can say he/she swims like a fish because a fish swims well.
Pattern 1: like
(verb + like + noun)
He runs like a leopard. He swims like a fish.
They fought like cats and dogs. She acts like a fool.
He eats like a pig. She sings like an angel.
He decided to soar like an eagle. Exploded like a volcano.
He have eyes like a hawk. She can swim like a fish.
Pattern 2: as
( as + adjective + as + noun )
You are as coward as rabbit. She is as fast as rocket.
He is as graceful as a swan. He is as tall as a giant.

You were as brave as a lion. He is as strong as an ox.
Your explanation is as clear as mud. As cute as kitten
As innocent as a lamb. As cool as a cucumber.
Make your own similes. How could I say that somebody?

Pronouns:
Pronouns are used in place of nouns. E.g. I, we , you, he, she, it, they.
Possessive Pronouns:
A possessive pronoun is a pronoun that shows possession. E.g. mine, yours, his, hers, theirs,
its.
Encircle the pronouns and underline the possessive pronouns.

Present Continuous Tense:

If something is happening now, we use Present Continuous Tense.
Formation of sentence: ( subject + present form of verb + ing )
Use correct form of verb given in brackets to make Present Continuous Tense.
i. I can’t come. I (learn) my lesson.
Ans: I can’t come. I am learning my lesson.
ii. What (you/do)? Mom is waiting for you.
Ans: What are you doing? Mom is waiting for you.
iii. Look! My cat (play).
Ans: Look! My cat is playing.
iv. He (do) his homework.
Ans: He is doing his homework.
v. Listen! That girl (cry).
Ans: Listen! That girl is crying.
Make questions in Present Continuous Tense.
e.g. She is having a party. Is she having a party?
We are waiting for the bus. Are we waiting for the bus?
She is going to work. Is she going to work?
He is riding a bike. Is he riding a bike?
We are travelling by train. Are we travelling by train?
They are playing football. Are they playing football?

When the sun sets in the west, it starts prevailing darkness everywhere. It is called night. In
the circle of one month more than half of the month the moon can be seen in the sky.
Remaining nights are darker without the moon. At the night time people and animals sleep
during night time. We cannot move freely in the darkness but we can do indoor essential
activities.
Write summary of the poem “Night”

The sun sets in the west and the stars start shinning in the sky. People and birds return to
their homes. The moon appears in the sky and there is silence everywhere.
